Going on my 6th year, I know how to get myself ready.  Nothing against the team or nothing like that.  The work I was putting in with my trainer, I was on a good program.  I didn't want to step away from that.  My coaches and nobody had a problem with it.  I was working.  

What did you focus on? --- I don't want to disclose my personal goals, I'd rather show.

Another question on his absence
At the end of the day, the season is the real goal, that's where we win at.  I knew mandatory minicamp was coming up and training camp.  I was working.  Its not like I was sitting around doing nothing.  Nobody in the building had an issue.

Question on daily communication with DJ
I'm not going to disclose the personal borthership with DJ.

When I walked in the building I see a new energy out of Sam, like a glowing charisma that I didn't see in NY. You know their energy their aura, I can kinda view that when I walked in the building.

This system is completely different, NY was more complex and nuanced for everyone.  This system is more graspable.  

My game in NY was more down the field and vertical, I didn't have the intermediate.  Mixing what I did last year is something to look forward to.

A question on production in the contract year
I'm a believer in what's meant for you comes from God. No man, no individual controls our destiny besides the work  you put in... that's management and their decision.

Slot vs outside question:
Smiles, in the slot I can get more jiggy, I have more fun.  Outside is cool and all, I like to get the ball in my hands and make things happen.  I like both.  I like playing reciever.  I like to make plays.  Getting vertical depends on the coverage.

Question on Jets week 1  and the change up there
Changes for the jets is not my concern.  I play for the Carolina Panthers.

I was given more opportunity last year.  In life, the more opportunity you get you can either succeed or fail.  I was putting in work, chemistry, positive things.  The better I be as person in life, the better I be in every aspect.  Whatever I put my mind to, I'm capable of doing.  

My goal this year is to have a better season than last year and I'm having a better offseason this year so I'm pretty sure the results will come.

Its like the press forgot that OTAs were optional and vets often don't attend, but they kept asking about his absence.  I know we were all interested because of the trade rumors, but at this point it seems like there is nothing there.

David Newton did have a good question on being reunited with Sam.  My jaw dropped.

Most of his answers were short and he didn't seem all that interested in answering them.  But he lit up and was really interested in the slot question.   This surprised me.  While he does well in the slot - I know I cringe when I see that "what looks to be fragile, lanky body" get hit inside.

The kid is tough as nails.  I loved the line from the mic'd up video after some contact.

That's right I hit like a tight end.

Hey thanks.  I enjoy it.  I know not everyone likes to watch or can watch and would prefer the cliff notes.  Also  mics this time were bad or off.  

Its also easier to refer to for the conversation here.  Certain things jump out when its in text. 

I have some free time presently so I can do it.

Agreed. Nice to have you both here, seems like you were gone for a few years @KB_fan, looking forward to some more good statistics, insight and discussion

Thanks, I'm glad to be back here more frequently.  Knowing I'll be in the States for the full season this year, since I have a long home assignment, has reignited my interest / connection to the team.  I watched or listened to all the games last year, but just wasn't so involved, for a lot of reasons... 

Not sure how much stat crunching & analysis I'll be doing though.  Maybe a few things that pique my interest as the season progresses... we'll see.  No promises yet as I'm not quite sure how busy my time in the States will be.  July / August will be mostly R&R, but the fall could be fairly busy.

At least that's what it sounded to me.  

Anyway, he's here for mandatory camp so I could care less what he did when it wasn't mandatory.  

Robby is here & ready to rock, and that's all that matters.

I think he was frustrated with the grilling on the absence and that question as a follow up was like "if you weren't here, tell us exactly what you were doing", and he was getting a little perturbed.

Vets skip OTAs all the time and the press knows that.

Sounds good, just know that there are definitely a fair amount of people here that appreciated the work you did with stats/analysis a few years back and would still appreciate it now!

That's right I hit like a tight end.

I watched more than few times Anderson block or lock out CBs fairly well, which I thought was impossible given his stick frame. Bad example, but its coming anyway, Steve Smith was an amazing blocking WR for his size/frame....honestly he bullied fools. Im around strength sports, one thing you learn early there is a thing called tendon strength. I had a guy Andersons size/frame whoop my ass on the arm wrestling table and I was a solid 275.

      Yeah it is wasted for everyone. Even AT, who he fed, felt like it was wasted. Was done with it.  The resources…  surely as a long term Panthers, he put it on a side track that does not lead anywhere but right back where we were. If we had healthy CBs vs TB in ‘22 we could have gotten into the playoffs with a losing record. We essentially blew all of that time, money and assets to do a 360. 3 fuging years.    Now we are supposed to wait 5 years for him to make mid. Top 15 ranking. I am not sure they would have waited 5 years for Joe Montana. You think Belichick waits 5 years for Brady? Not me. And we are in the era of the cheap slotted salary for drat picks era, where it is supposed to be easier to move on. You have to want to though and you have to be in charge with a clue.  He has had flashes that lasted a whole game, a couple of times. I could stretch that to 4 maybe but I am not even sure of that. Maybe. He has had substantially more flashes that lasted a half or quarter, and all that combined doesn’t stack as high as his weak performances.  It is maddening.

      Here is how I see it...You can talk to the QB until 15 seconds before the play clock expires.  There are reasons to believe that Canales is spending a lot of time gathering information from those in better position to make the decisions.  Have you noticed how often we break the huddle between 15 and 13 seconds remaining?  I have a theory... 1. Canales is on the sideline.  His view of the field is not as good as the OC, who is sitting in the box in the sky--he can see the defense, spacing, substitutions, etc.  This means that Canales must get information from up top before selecting a play. 2. Canales has to spend time during the week with the defense, special teams, etc. in addition to the offense.  The OC is with the offense all week.  He knows the plays that were run well in practice--he knows the nicks and dings they might be complaining about--he knows their questions and input about certain plays, formations, etc.  Canales may be aware, but not AS aware.  In other words, his hand is not on the pulse as much as the OC.  It is likely that, during the week, the OC is the person answering questions and making decisions.  On Sunday, Canales steps in and makes less informed decisions. 3.  Canales likes the moniker "QB whisperer."  He may feel more confident being the voice in Bryce's helmet because he is Bryce's mentor.  Maybe he has a calming effect and maybe he thinks he can keep Bryce focused.  MAYBE he is not the best play caller, but he calls plays and mentors Bryce.  Maybe that is why he calls plays. Just a theory--but Canales could be the play caller because Bryce is the QB and he is trying to literally whisper into the QB ear.
