True but also I don’t even think it necessarily makes sense to compare Kerr and Jones because Kerr’s release didn’t even coincide with the Jones signing, so it’s not like our FO was thinking of it in terms of a direct comparison. Kerr was released over a month before Jones’ signing. Jones was signed presumably because we had a big hole at DT that was contributed in part by the Kerr release, so it seems pretty irresponsible to have released Kerr before a contingency plan was put in place.

I agree.  It does seem to be pretty common in the league to make the space before filling it, not always, but not uncommon.  It doesn't seem prudent.

Maybe they had a verbal with Jones and it took a month to work the contract.  We still haven't signed all of rookies from the draft and those contacts are governed by the union player agreement.

Maybe they do this because its best for the FA market.  We rely on other teams to do the same thing for our acquisitions.

It seems its  best for the player to be released earlier rather than later to find a landing spot and get acclimated.

Just thoughts, I really don't know.

tre boston is one of the most overrated safeties of all time. He was never that good for us or the chargers. he'd have decent INT numbers b/c he'd catch some balls thrown right to him.

I thought we released Kerr thinking we were going to sign another DT (can’t remember the name off the top of my head) and the guy ended up signing with another team for more money/years.

I hadn't hear that.

I googled it and it was Denico Autry. He ended up signing for 3 years with the Titans. They ended up not resigning DaQuan Jones allowing us to sign him on a one year deal. Funny how things kind of just worked out.

I doubt Fitt and Rhule wanted to give a 31 year old a multi year deal considering how young this team is.

I echo the mastera and easye, Kerr has to be in the top 5 strangest moves. He played well, very cheap, well liked by teammates, hard worker, high effort, just a good pro. He didnt have to start either, just like he made a pass at Treppers woman.

Efa was weird too, just place the low tender on him, its that simple. I heard EFa didnt like that idea, so?? Gave him up for nothing after spending all that time in development of a super raw player, bad move.
