Unprotected, potential Krakeners:

Forwards

Defensemen

Goalies

Nino, McGinn or Martinook being drafted will leave me teary eyed. Geekie or Lorentz will leave me perturbed.

One of his rosters shows Seattle taking Bean, the other shows Mrazek.

As long as they leave the Martyman alone, I'm cool with it. Losing Nino would hurt too, but I just think Martinook is more important to the team than people give him credit for.

Saw last night Seattle is working on a 3-year deal for Driedger (Florida's goalie) at $10.5M. That's a good thing for Carolina because Driedger, a 3rd round pick, has 5 years in the league, he's played in a total of 38 games. For an expansion team, he could very well be the starter for that kind of money, unless there's another unprotected option Seattle may be looking at (Carey Price?).

They may go after Price, knowing he's probably going to have surgery and delay his 2021-22 season and they have Driedger as their starter until Price comes back. Not a bad 1-2 if you ask me.

Reports are that the Kraken have selected Morgan Geekie and there are no side deals.

We got to keep Bean, bros!

Have selected? isn’t it not up until tonight? If we only lose geekie I will be fugging stun. I like geekie but for us he’s a 4th liner at best right now.

    • He does have speed. 21+ top end speed is very fast for a linebacker and his 3 cone drill time is considered excellent, close to elite.
    • This is awesome because you get to see the perspectives of the scouts--get a glimpse behind the curtain. I wonder whose doing this was; I am curious as to why David Tepper allowed it. Maybe it was his wife. Maybe Dan.  At least from my perspective--and probably one shared by other fans--when David Tepper bought the team, he closed everything off too much to the fans, and really didn't give an explanation. Things were obviously done because he (and/or some others wanted to do it). Remember when they used the guise of construction and all that to keep fans from seeing the team during practice? I know there are laws and safety and all that, but Tepper could've made it happen. And, of course, we all know that they essentially fired Jeremy from his independent contractor gig as a photojournalist. I never understood why they'd do that (and the negative reverberations obviously affected Jeremy and ultimately this place--i.e, us fans). The pie was (and is) certainly big enough to throw some scraps to the independents. I realize that you can't necessarily open the floodgates, but a few different perspectives from indy journalists whether in word or photos is a good thing in my mind.  So, it's great to see different perspectives. I will say this however: it is not without risk, as you know there will be some buster who will be calling the scouts out if the players flop. I think we should all keep in mind that the buck stops with the GM. It's nice to have one, however, that is so convicted in his people and process--and ultimately success, that he's willing to give fans access to this type of information. Pass this on to Tepper.
    • I hope he ends up being our best ever at the position. Ryan Kalil left big shoes behind that we haven't quite been able to fill since.
