I want to say that this is sarcasm but since this is the huddle you can never be too sure if this is the case or not.

Totally sarcasm; I'm well versed in it.  The point remains, we got out-coached in the second half and it didn't have to be that way.  Only a Panthers' staff would assume the opponent, who got beat badly in first half, would not come out super-aggressive in the second half. The Jets defensive front four is the strength of that team and dialing up pressure all second half was the only way they were going to get back in the game.  Who didn't see that coming?  Apparently Joe Brady.

We beat last year's second worst team in the league who are currently starting a brand new HC and are in year one of their rebuild. We were supposed to beat this team, by all rights.

And we did.

Anyone watching that first half was thinking, "These Panthers are for real, this might be the year" minus a few headscratcher moments.

Anyone watching that second half was thinking, "These Panthers are going to disappoint again" except that the unstoppable passage of time left the Jets with too little room to work the comeback.

Our o-line wasn't good, but not as bad as we'd worried. CMC is CMC and that's a good thing. Our defense feasted on a rookie QB, an o-line with injuries and a non-existent running game. Our QB looked competent but posted eerily similar stats to Teddy Bridgewater's opener last year (a close loss to the Raiders) against a better team. Our kicker looks like a flat tire and we frikkin' punted from the 33.

Coaching was uninspiring.

But it's just week one. And we have a positive mark in the win-loss record. That's something. Right?

I was disappointed. I expect better.

This is exactly how I feel. Tepper said that if we expected to win now then we were sorely mistaken. But how long will this regime get if it is continued mediocrity. We allowed two franchise QBs to stay on the draft board for a CB so we could have this Darnold reclamation project without any pressure. The playbook looked limited yesterday after Brady's praise for Darnold. And then they did all the Ron and Fox things that we hated about Ron and Fox in the second half. They started ramming CMC into the teeth of the defense and played loiter ball zone the whole second half. And that punt returner, was just wow.

He also said they done that because the Jets started to pick up on their blitzes the second half.

Maybe so.  To me it looked like the sit on the lead coaching on both sides of the ball we have had since the franchise started basically it feels like.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
