Seriously, does ANYONE REALLY think we can make a playoff run with Jake Delhomme?...

He has played Kerry Collins ball the last 3 weeks. The 05 Bears will tell you best when they say you can't hind your QB..I don't mind running the ball with these two backs that we have, but its kind of sad when we're running on 3th and 7s from the 49 yard line....Either trust in Jake, or make the change at QB..

Depends on if the old Jake is really back or if he is still gonna suck it up.

We've made 2 good playoff runs with him. Can't fault him too much for 2005 disaster in Seattle. We had 0 running backs, 0 TEs, Keary Colbert and Drew Carter at WR who are not even in the league anymore. Smitty was the ONLY weapon we had that season.

didnt you just make a thread saying you think we'll only lose one game the entire rest of the season? how is it jake will be good enough, in your opinion, to beat the dolphins, jets, tampa bay, giants, vikings, and saints, but there's no possible way to make a playoff run with him?

RT81, is that you?

easier schedule that last stretch in 04 and a better QB.

have fun dreading the rest of the season, after losing to Buffalo I felt we blew our chance. But three solid games in a row has somewhat restored my confidence, enough to give me hope we can still do it. You don't know poo btw, I am not comparing this to 04, I am using that as an example Fox can get his team to respond despite a poor start.

I don't think as a fan I have to always take the overly optimistic angle. I don't consider AZ and NO examples of solid QB play. The NO game you can probably blame Fox for that....but it still showed nothing except that they can limit Jake's impact (which could be good or bad). Atlanta? Yes.

Until I see real improvement from Fox/Jake....I think 8-8 is an at best scenario.

Before we get ahead of ourselves Jake looked pretty good his 1st time around against the Falcons D and then proceeded to suck for a couple of games. I prefer to look at what a player has done over a stretch as opposed to 1 game (kinda how most people should look at there relationships). I know someone will say he hasn't thrown a pick in 3 games, well so what he threw 15 in the 6 before that. I hope he does return to the Jake of old but I wont hold my breath as I have said I think he is done here.

    • I have said if you out even an average QB into the offense we are averaging 25+ points a game. But that will never happen with Bryce under center.
    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
