Whats up with the endzone and side line camera shots?

Has anyone else noticed when they focus in on a player close up on the sidelines or endzone, it has this somewhat CGI looking effect?

Its hard to explain, but to me, the players kinda look like Madden graphics when these shots are taken.

Is it some new camera technology or are my eyes just playing tricks on me?

Your eyes aren't playing tricks, they have a new camera they started using last year. It's a Sony camera usually used for cinema (rather than live events) and has a lens setup for a narrow depth of field (where only the subject is in focus and everything else is blurred).

The cameras are difficult to use in live situations which is why you often see the focus shifting when they switch to it.  It is a cool game-like effect though.

If you want to know more do a search for "NFL Megalodon." That's the name of the camera.

    • Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
    • I think it's because we've had a player to hate on NO (Breese) and Atl (Ryan) while Tampa had Winston who was never really a threat or dislikable like the other 2
    • yeah. it was also reported that Brown was taking it light today because of oblique soreness. Sounds like the 2 of them were a bit too rough with each other for practice.
