Also, the usual suspects are always scared to death to draft a first round QB unsurprisingly lol. Gotta be an "Andrew Luck prospect" otherwise it's too big a risk and they need to be talked into it lol

If you're scared just say you're scared or buy a dog

Yep, I am scared of drafting a rookie qb in the first and having to ride him out for at least 3 years hoping, praying he is not a bust.  And then having to start completely over with a new guy and probably new coach as well.  And granted its early but so far from this vaulted qb class of the 2020 draft its looking pretty rough as well.

I would much rather build the time line and see what Darnold can do without running for his life 50% of the time.  Nothing against horn but I still have no clue why in the hell we didnt get slater.  If our scouting dept dropped the ball on that then someone needs to be fired.  Kid is the real deal right out of the gate

You realize there are multiple draft picks in every draft, the Panthers still have some and plan to use them, can aquire more, and free agency exists? With a rising salary cap?

Why does this inspire such fear

How many picks do we have? We have a 1st and no 2nd or 3rd? So we build the lines with rookies from late rounds who are not ready and with scrubs in FA who suck and have the same OL again next year?

For fugs sake, how many times are we going sign some bum in free agency only to have it blow up in our face?  We've tried it, that method doesnt work.  Look at all the great lines in the nfl, do some research on where there studs were picked.

Tepper might run out of patience in the meantime though. He's gonna get real tired of watching us field trash at QB sooner or later. He said when he got here that you need a coach, a GM, and a QB. Tepper knows you need an elite QB in today's NFL to have sustained success. If Fitts and Rhule can't find that QB, then Tepper will ultimately find a new GM and/or HC.

We drafted Horn bc we're in the a division with 5 legitimate X receivers and Sewell was gone, they're draft board was different than yours

Panthers have two possible starters in Brady and Deonte, both are young but you all know this team drafts players to play them early. It's a thing. They have to find two more interior lineman and you can find that with mid round picks. This lines up with their philosophy. Also, free agency exists. Cap room exists. Sheesh

Tepper and his analytics are smart enough to know that no qb being pressured 50% of the time is going to win many games

No one is going to find a franchise QB with this OL unless the kid is the next Cam Newton. I dont see a Cam Newton prospect coming out of college anytime soon.

Build the damn OL with something other than late round picks and bum ass FAs

Again, we've been all aces trying to sign bodies to build our oline.

They don't get this. Tepper is the reason they had no choice but to get rid of Teddy and they inquired about every big name QB this off-season, from Stafford to an alleged predator.

If Sam plays poorly, Tepper is gonna chirp about finding a "franchise quarterback" in the media AGAIN, he's that rich. He don't care.. And it makes sense to do it, too.

    • In your opinion. What do you think Moton's true value in contract, dollars and guarantees? If we had not extended him, what is your plan for RT in 27 and 28? How important are good offensive linemen for our current offense? How much value do you put on protecting Bryce at this stage of his career? How difficult in general do you think finding above average tackles in the NFL is?
    • The Falcons have 2 significant offensive line injuries to start the 2025 season. Right tackle Kaleb Mcgary (who is the blindside protector for Penix since he is left-handed) is going to miss significant time, and it's looking more like it may be all season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-expect-kaleb-mcgary-to-miss-significant-time https://x.com/BKsquared7/status/1959285822236107013. Also, the top backup and swing tackle, Storm Norton (cool name BTW) is having ankle surgery and may miss half the season. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/falcons-ot-storm-norton-out-6-8-weeks-after-ankle-surgery I don't root for injuries, but its also hard to be too sympathetic given how badly injuries have hit us in recent years. We definitely need to get that W in week 3 for our home opener at BOA. Despite our collective frustration at not being able to attend TC and then having boring preseason games, ultimately the most important objective of the preseason is to enter Week1 healthy, and we have at least done that. Hopefully the depth we think we have at Oline either shines through or isn't needed. Many other teams are in a bad spot with their offensive lines before the season even starts. For once, we aren't in that situation.
    • That roster was billed as a super smart and strong unit for a young QB….until he sucked though.   it didn’t have superstars but it had proven vets that checked well all the safe boxes and it was universally agreed the Panthers were putting him into position to succeed. BY just doesn’t fit a traditional O because he isn’t built like a traditional QB.  And he still doesn’t.   CJ Stroud would have had more success here than Bryce with that cast.   CJ just has the tools that fit the NFL more easily.  Young can find success but I have always argued it would take a Bryce centric plan (which we have never attempted IMO)
