That's approaching 30% of the time though. Even if you win your division you're going to have to win three games against playoff caliber teams. Odds are pretty decent one of those teams is going to curb stomp you in the trenches. It needs to get addressed in the off-season.

Jesus christ.. What is the expectation here??

No defense in this league this year is stopping every offense they have faced...

This Defense is still young ass hell it isn't the 99 Ravens or 86 Bears..

70% effectiveness isn't bad for a defense so young and spent most the season carrying a inept offense...

We should be 8-3 and a clear playoff team according to this logic then

So the other half of the team don't count??

You do know there is a thing called offense in football  right??

See how stupid you look when you try to act smart??

Lmao

We're 24th in the league in rushing yards allowed. It's clearly a problem.

Outsiders got them at 19..

And are we going to negate the fact that for 9 weeks the offense left them on the field for teams to run on them towards the end of the game??

At some point you have to add context when using stats..

The offense has been much better since bringing Cam back. Honestly, our rush D is our biggest weakness since then.

It's okay man. The team isn't perfect. Some criticism is okay. I mean, we're 5-6. Clearly there's some aspects of the team that need improvement.

We're 19th in average tugging yards allowed per game. We're 24th in actual rushing yards allowed.

Wait Limmy the rankings are based on the season so far not the last 2 games..

Since Cam been back they stuffed the Cardinals and got beat up by the Team..

But the other 9 games they were dealing with a Darnold led offense and no complimentary Football right??

That will effect any defenses numbers??

3 out of 11 games they gotten beaten in the trenches can we stop going overboard...

The Panthers have been beaten in the trenches more than 3 times. In every loss, the Panthers have given up at least 90 yards rushing. The Eagles being the team that didn't rush for over 100 yards. In the wins, the Panthers have kept teams under 90 yards rushing. Teams being able to run on the Panthers is more than a trend, it's the same problem the Manning era Colts had with their smaller front.

It’s the gap integrity that fails in Phil Snow’s scheme when teams have an offensive line that can block guys man on man and win. In a Rivera style defense at least in the earlier days with Star and KK, you could stop the run with gap integrity and good linebacker play because of the more traditional alignments, even against a good offensive line that bodied them up.

Now the Phil Snow defense relies more on gimmicks, weird alignments, and stunts to put guys in position to make a play in the run game and to fill the gaps. It leaves big wide open holes for 10 yard games when your d-line doesn’t outright win at the point of attack and puts an offensive lineman on a linebacker a lot of the time. Snow’s defense has worked great at stopping some zone run teams, and teams with inferior offensive linemen that could be beat one on one. Against teams that run the ball well with straight man on man blocking like Dallas or Minnesota the results were absolutely horrendous. Washington and New England had a similar strategy to great success.

The blueprint is out there, but luckily not all teams have the offensive lineman to pull it off. The Panthers D-line will win against some teams.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
