People say "look at how many offensive systems he's been through" as if bringing him into another one would help (sixth time's the charm?)

He's had a decent supporting cast in DC (Portis, Betts, Moss, Randle El, Cooley, Samuels, etc) but has still shown fundamental weaknesses.

He's a reclamation project. Essentially, David Carr Part II. Not what we need. It we're going to have to build a QB from the ground up, I'd rather it be a rookie.

Yeah..but this team..is built to win now.I would not want a rookie starting.I would rather have a vet..start and have a rookie on the bench learning..

He looked sharp for the most part yesterday..and has already had some solid years in the NFL

Anyone who wouldn't take Jason Campbell over Jake Delhomme is not only a BDJS, but also a complete moron...

Jason Campbell would instantly move our offense into the top ten of the NFL, and possibly very close to the top... He is mobile, actually makes reads, and usually makes smart decisions when under pressure, unlike our boy Jake...

Not only would he be a GREAT move by Hurney and company, but he COULD be a Franchise QB in our system (2 strong RBs in support, and one of the best WR in the game)...

I don't want either of those choices next year.

Delhomme certainly isn't the answer, but that doesn't mean Campbell is.

At first I thought you were kidding but the end makes me just confused.

What other options are going to be out there?

Campbell has 4 years under his belt, is of high character as far as I know, and has a great arm and great mobility...

You won't find that in the draft, and you certainly won't find another one like that in the league already that you can trade anything for (which we don't have anything to trade in the first place)...

It's either going to be him or Tarvaris Jackson, and honestly, Jackson has nowhere near the deep ball or the ability to scan the field that Campbell has at this point...

If you don't want Delhomme and you want to remain competitive in a "rebuilding" situation, the choice is clear cut...

You're talking about the 2010 draft? The one some experts think may be as quarterback rich a draft as has been seen in years? That draft? :sosp:

(and absolutely we have things to trade)

So, what do you propose we trade to get in place for one of these awesome, untested at the pro level QBs?

Pep?

He has to either sign or be franchised again first, and even if/when we do either, he will not be traded...

Smitty?

He's not going anywhere either...

DWill or JStew?

Yeah, that makes SOOO much sense... Split up the best RB tandem in the league and the only real thing your offense has going for it...

Other picks?

What other picks?

So please, offer up what else we have that any team is willing to trade us anything of value for...

Even if/when the Fox era ends, a rookie QB is a deathwish for someone new coming in and basically cries out desperation for a franchise. It's starting over...

Signing Jason Campbell (taking into consideration that this would mean Washington chose not to re-sign him) would be a temporary fix with the possibility of a permanent one.

I don't want a rookie QB unless he's obviously a HOF in waiting, and despite the hype around this class of prospects, there are none of those in it...

Again, Campbell brings 4 years of pro experience in a system very similar to ours... He needs a fresh start somewhere else, and we need one at QB...

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
