Potential doesn't make him a big / splash signing at the time of signing.

I agree, in terms of what each has brought to the Panthers in their careers here thus far, Olsen was BY FAR the bigger signing.  Few Panthers have matched Greg's level of excellence here.  Maybe Gilmore sticks around, maybe not.  Maybe he has a few more All Pro years.  Probably not.  Who can say what the future holds.

Exactly. 6M for 8 games. There was a reason teams weren’t jumping at the chance. NE was going to cut him  just to not pay him that.
