Fitterer has said many times that he would listen to offers.  Now that the Watson deal is dead and we've signed D. Freeman and still have Hubbard.

It makes me wonder if Fitterer isn't trying to get some draft capital back.

Personally, I want CMC to stay but since he still have value we might try to move him.  Another shorten season and his value will be minimal. 

Thoughts?

You're probably right.  I think there might be a couple of teams that would bite on a 1st but not many.  At this point a early 2nd would be perfect.

I don't think many teams would part with a 1st for him. Not many want a RB salary at $8-12 mil for that length of time(4 years). Then you have even fewer that value RB's at a 1st round grade. 

Early second is mostly dumpster fire teams, so I am not sure how many of them would need a RB or want a RB-centric offense. 

I don't think we are actively shopping him, though. I think we are just willing to listen to offers.

I think a McCaffrey trade at this point is more or less off the table. Would need to be an overpayment and who’s going to overpay for an oft-injured RB with his contract? Nobody. Better to hang onto him and either roll with him or at least try to rebuild his value. Would be much better to trade him next offseason if he stays healthy this year and performs.
 

But also if we’re gonna roll with a young unknown at QB we’re gonna want McC for Ds to focus on. That along with a great OL is our only hope for success if we have a rookie QB from this weaker draft.

This makes good sense.  I love CMC but there comes a time when you wear a person down.  Could we get a 2nd?  I'm not so sure but if we could I'd let him go.  As you stated, if he is injured again we probably will have to settle for a 5th or let him go.

Unless we get a pretty decent haul in draft capital, there isn't a great reason to get rid of him in 2022. He is the best offensive weapon at RB in the NFL if he can stay healthy. So see if he stays healthy and if he can't, just cut your losses and take the lesson about signing RB's to massive deals. We did something stupid and we paid the price.

If not, and he is healthy for a whole year, then you once again have a core member of the franchise.

He is a great pass receiving RB....as a RB. If you try to make him a utility player then he immediately becomes less of a threat to a defense. You take away his most valuable tool, which is that he is a great runner.

      You don't have to go through every game and point it out as we are discussing his GWDs. You specifically called out that he had GWDs because he is the reason the team is always playing from behind. We looked at those eight games and only Miami stands out as one where he put the team in a hole to begin with. You've added the Atlanta game where the team didn't score a TD but only kicked field goals. You're not trying to change what we're discussing to fit your feelings re: Bryce. That's not necessary. We are discussing GWDs per the thread topic. We have also shown that your opinion that the team has had to always come back due to Bryce was proven to be false as was the claim that "minus one game" was his fault. Appealing to emotion afterwards by trying to broadly paint the rest of the losses in the same way just doesn't work. Where in the Hell did you get that the entire point is the suggestion that BY is more clutch than Jake and/or Cam? It's giving something to be positive about in that Bryce has shown the ability to comeback and win games despite the calamity that might have taken place to put them behind to begin with. How is that blasphemy?

      His run blocking is making up for his negatives in pass blocking right now.  He’ll still have pass blocking hiccups, but if they think he’s a critical part to the locker room and team construction, you probably re-sign him and try not to overpay.
