I mean if you look at any draft evaluator anywhere nobody hits 100%. He's no less creditable than anyone else. Coming out of highschool Clausen was the number 1 player period. I guess everyone was wrong on him.

Kiper's statement was leading up to Clausen being drafted into the NFL, not coming out of high school. It's one thing to not "hit" on a particular evaluation. It's another to stake one's career as an NFL draft analyst on the success of a player.

Clausen wasn't even good enough to become a career journeyman/backup. If it wasn't for this being a Panther website that I frequent I would have forgotten all about him...like the rest of the NFL fans already have.

Nobody had Lamar jackson high. Everyone saw him as a play wr guy.

I'm not sure why you're taking up for Mel so ardently here, but his track record of predicting QB success is spotty enough to make me take his lists with a grain of salt. Not to mention his mock drafts are typically blown up after the 2nd pick.

Because most people are illogical. I think it's hard being the first to really start doing this and remain relevant. People want a mock draft where you can't predict who will trade and what people are talking about behind closed doors non the less know how teams rank certain players... it's impossible. Not to mention your doing a mock based just on where teams are at and are picking.

Espn tell you do a mock draft no trades. One trade blows up the whole mock. It's like predicting a perfect March madness bracket. Nearly impossible

BTW, I'm not saying Kiper's evaluation on 2022 QBs is wrong. I'm just saying his track record would indicate it likely is.

It is very difficult. And somehow he has managed to maintain an interest and intrigue into what he has to say, so kudos to him for that. I just don't set my clocks by what he says, ya feel?

"If Jimmy Clausen is not a successful quarterback in the NFL, I'm done. That's it. I'm out." -Mel Kiper, 2010

He has no credibility on QBs.

He never had much credibility, he was just the first draft guy that existed on the draft network, so he became a name.

Way more people with way more credibility than he has now. People with actual football background.

Would anyone be down with just, like, typing, posting “Gardner Minshew” from time to time? Just like wherever, whenever you feel it, just get it out there for the panther gods more often. Or even just thinking about him in your head when you have time. Good for the soul. Good karma. #raisegardnerminshewawareness

    • i just feel like i read this he says she says poo all the time over & over again  on the internet  TV  work ,in public & then i think back to myself oh what a sick slandermongering world we live in now. ts just like those National Enquirer magazines you find in the grocery store at the checkout counter which are nothing more than complete & utter BS  & more often than not when you assume something then you make an ASS out of U & ME. so chill &  let the courts do their job & if he is guilty well he is guilty  LOL either or this has nothing at all whatsoever to do with Carolina Panthers football
    • Former league executive and current NFL.com analyst Marc Ross recently named his top second-year breakout candidates for the upcoming campaign. Ross includes Legette, who may be helped out by his team's latest first-round selection. He writes: Legette had a slow start to his NFL career, catching 49 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns last season. Some of the struggles can be tied to his own growing pains -- he had eight drops on 81 targets, according to Pro Football Focus -- but he had also had to navigate the quarterback shuffle between Bryce Young and Andy Dalton early in Dave Canales' first season leading the Panthers. Canales recently said he believes Carolina has a DK Metcalf-like talent in Legette, who had foot surgery this offseason but was cleared to resume work in early April, and that having a full offseason alongside Young, who took a significant step forward in 2024, could lead to a breakout result in 2025. I anticipate it will also help that Carolina invested another first-round pick in a wide receiver, Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan, to complement Legette in the pass game. McMillan's presence, however, could take some pressure off Legette—who may be able to roam around in a more natural playmaking role. With the 6-foot-4 All-American likely to take on the bulk of the volume from Young, Legette should have some cleaner shots to break out downfield and in the box score.     https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/06/panthers-wr-xaiver-legette-top-breakout-candidates-2025/83475176007/?taid=681a4610ede05d000149b376&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter
