Slye had quite a busy year last year:

2021 season[edit]

Slye signed another one-year contract extension with the Panthers on January 5, 2021.[19] Slye was released by the Panthers on August 28, 2021, after the team traded for Ryan Santoso.[20]

Houston Texans[edit]

On September 7, 2021, Slye was signed to the Houston Texans practice squad.[21] On September 11, he was elevated to the active roster following an injury to starting kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn.[22] In 3 games, he connected on 4 of 5 field goal attempts and 7 of 8 extra point attempts. Slye was waived on September 30, 2021.[23]

San Francisco 49ers[edit]

On October 5, 2021, Slye was signed by the San Francisco 49ers after an injury to Robbie Gould.[24] Slye was waived on November 2, 2021, after Gould's return.[25]

Washington Football Team / Commanders[edit]

Slye signed with the Washington Football Team on November 9, 2021.[26] In Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks, Slye suffered a hamstring injury after a blocked extra point attempt and did not play in the second half of the game.[27] He was placed on injured reserve the following day.[28] He was activated off injured reserve on December 25.[29]

On March 16, 2022, the team placed a restricted free agent tender on Slye.[30] Slye signed a two-year contract on April 11, 2022.[31]

    • dawg, not sure if you follow hockey at all but Terry Pegula is by far the worst owner in the NHL and has run the Buffalo Sabres into the ground -- 14 straight years missing the playoffs. Buffalo media has reported extensively about how Pegula has run each team (mostly hands off with the Bills since McD and Josh arrived) and their observations are that the way Pegula has handled the McDermott and Beane situation has been an absolute disaster and very reminiscent of the Sabres disfunction.    We don't really know the full story and never will but I do know that Pegula's comments in that press conference were completely asinine and came across to me as a terrible owner trying to come across like he knows what he's doing. Why in the world would you make those comments about an active player on the team, or air all this alleged behind the scenes dirty laundry in a press conference? Came across to me as a terrible owner being defensive about his stupid decisions.   There very much was a reason McDermott was fired and Beane was kept. Now, whether that reason had any basis in objective logic and reason is anyone's guess. Based on Pegula's history, I suspect his reasoning behind the decision was very flawed. This is very reminiscent of some of Tepper's clown decisions and comments from the worst moments of his time as our owner so far.
    • How did the Texans afford to put those weapons around him though? 25 out of 32 in OL spending compared to us at #1. And they gave up the same number of sacks as we did in 2025.
    • Did anyone point out that tet wasn’t even PFFs highest rated rookie receiver
