I had a dream that we traded up to 3 for Ekwonu.

Can really see Houston trading into our spot from 13 for Garrett Wilson. McShay mentioned he heard some chatter about Houston trying something like that on PMT

From Albert Breer's final draft notes (link)

• I’d take note of what Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said at his press conference the other day about looking at trading into the teens. Going that far down, rather than making a shorter move, would allow Carolina to recoup the second-round pick it lost in the Sam Darnold trade.

If you consider, perhaps, a trade with Houston, you can see how it would work. The Eagles pick 13th overall, and that pick is worth, per the draft value chart, 1,150 points. Houston’s second-rounder, 37th overall, is worth 530 points. That gets you to 1,680 points, which is right in the neighborhood of the value of the sixth pick (1,600 points).

We also, for what it’s worth, did a fake trade in the Tuesday rumors column that illustrated all this, and showed that to get Washington’s second-rounder in a move down from 11 to six, they had to package a fourth-rounder with their pick.

Which is why that Darnold trade gets worse by the day.  Not only does he suck, but it's costing us a lot to get back in the second round, which we desperately need to because of all of the needs we have.  I dont mind trading back a couple spots depending on whats there, but I don't like dropping into the teens at all.

When all of the draft season stuff started, I was locked in on taking Willis at 6, but it seems like the QB hype train never picked up steam, and thus, it doesn't seem like there is going to be a run on QBs early despite many teams needing them, therefore we won't be forced into taking one at that pick...  at least that is how it is looking, but any thing can happen.  That is why the further we have gotten into the process, the more comfortable I have gotten with either taking a LT at 6 (hopefully Ekwonu, but Cross if we have to) or trading back if the top 3 guys are gone and picking up a 2nd rounder.

    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
    • Ok LT and Petersen are a cut above everyone else to me cmc and Faulk are interchangeable on this list.  though Faulk was better career wise
