See things how you want to see them. Panthers Confidential is a production, yes, but I am talking about body language and deference. Unless you think that Tepper, Rhule, and Fitt are ready for the Academy Award, I don't think that you can be so dismissive of their actions.

It's not hard to argue that Rhule is still firmly in charge at all.

Yeah, but you only want to talk about the body language from a Panther PR piece.

And totally dismiss the body language of Rhule emerging unedited from hiding like a scolded puppy dog that someone beat with a newspaper.

I at least acknowledge both exist.  I simply put more stock in the one that isn’t produced by the Panther PR team.  You aren’t even acknowledging the other as existing.

Wilks is already receiving love from players in the building.

Wilks was a guy that a ton of people talked up as a future head coach.

I'm not sure his first shot at the job was a legit one.

(definitely not a fan of Steve Keim)

Everyone knows that Rhule has been low profile since season's end. That's not a news flash. I don't even know what you're talking about really, but since you want to acknowledge something, how about acknowledging that Rhule's contract gives him final say. How about acknowledging the fact that Gantt has reported that Rhule is in charge? That is much more worthy than some story about him hiding in the shadows.

Well, go watch the pressers with the GM after Rhule emerged from hiding if you like to look at body language and all that.   There were a bunch of threads about all that too.   That’s also where you can find the GM clearly reading the room in regards to how the press was treating him vs Rhule.

Gantt is literally a Panther employee.  And the Panthers script is all you acknowledge.

By your logic, it's all a big PR stunt.

I don't even particularly like Gantt, but let's not act like he hasn't always told the truth as he sees it. They all have! You'll not convince me that there's some script that he goes by when people ask him questions in his mailbag.

And then, you must ask yourself, what does it profit him, Tepper or anyone to say that there hasn't been a power shift if there had been? That would be pretty substantial news that would help placate the masses.

They wouldn't say it, but that doesn't mean they didn't do it.

But if you're say, Matt Rhule, you could always frame it as something like "stepping away from some of the detail oriented stuff in order to focus on a more personal approach with the players" like we've heard him talk about this offseason.

By your logic all there is…is what the Panthers org says and puts out.   I don’t deny it exists though.

well if you are choosing to enter into what is essentially a lame duck Rhule year pending there isn’t just some epic surprise…..you don’t actually say that.  We have seen that before here and elsewhere.   You are basically arguing if they were doing it they would publicly admit it.  Which they wouldn’t.  Fox 2010.  We all knew the deal.  Well, some denied it at the time.

I'm fine with that.

It means if we have a bad season, he's the one who gets fired.

The problem is that "bad season" is relative. What we think is a season worthy of being fired is obviously not what Tepper thinks is a season worthy of being fired. 2021 should have taught everyone that. So, no, I'm not into wishful thinking or the hype train.

No, I try and read between the lines and watch what people say and do. When 2+2=4, it doesn't equal 3.

    • I am not sure it should be a ‘sell out to go to the SB’ season. And hope they don’t.  At the same time I was thinking you absolutely must find out if you want to pay for Bryce or not. That means putting it on him. No protecting and trying to hide weaknesses with the run game and a super conservative calls.  So I wish they would do it and find out, win or lose, 2026. No more developing. Time to do it. Let’s see once and for all.
    • My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick.  I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble.  I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.
