Carolina is going to look a whole lot different next year.

Current Lineup:

G - Davis, Trimble

G - Love, Wilcher

F - Dunn

F - Washington, High

C - Bacot, Shaver

This is assuming Love comes back, he may leave.

Carolina has four scholarships open and every single one should be invested in shooters.

There’s also a rumor floating around that Pitino might flip Ian Jackson.

Glad to see Bacot return.  The idea of Ian Jackson going elsewhere has worried me as much as not making the tournament this season. Definitely could happen

I honestly hope Love just goes into the draft and goes to the G League. It's what he needs for his development and it's what UNC needs as a team. Too often these guys get caught standing around waiting for Love to do something.

If the Heels can push Love out then I’d try to get Cadeau and Jackson (since they want to play together) to reclassify and then use one of the scholarships on Timberlake and then hope some additional shooters hit the portal for the remaining two scholarships.

G - Cadeau, Trimble

G - Davis, Wilcher, Dunn

F - Jackson, Timberlake

F - Washington, High

C - Bacot, Shaver

It pains me to say it because I love the kid but he needs to go. He's not improving here and we're not improving as a team with him taking the lion's share of the shots. He needs a coach to help him with shot selection and decision making in general, not a constant green light. And as a team we need to move the ball and having two shoot first, shoot second, pass as a last resort guards playing nearly all the guard minutes just isn't working.

Hope Miami makes it to the final four.  If they can survive Houston, they have a very good shot.

They look pretty good so far, but still got another half to go.

If I had to pick a team to win it this year at this point, might be UConn.  They might be the hottest team in the country.

Miami has the guards…no doubt there.  If someone takes out Alabama this tournament is completely wide open.  So many upsets.  Right now it is very hard to pick against the Tide.  They are clearly the best left.

Gonzaga is still here and the ways they have been denied in the past I wouldn’t put it past them winning it

Puff Johnson hits the portal from UNC. It's a mass exodus. I'm not surprised. If you don't play guys they're gonna transfer. Hubert better hope he can get some of these '24 recruits to reclassify or he's gonna get himself fired next year.

Yeah, we can’t blame these guys for moving on.  Ian Jackson confirmed his commitment which honestly surprised me.  Hubert will have a short bench next season as things look today and IMO this is a huge season for him as coach.

I don’t see either of these bigtime commits reclassifing so he needs to get some transfers

    • To all the analysts who said "Caps in 5", thank you for telling us their departure time.
    • We won't know the answer to this for a long time. Reality is, Caleb has been the consensus #1 in that draft for years. Bryce was a similar situation, but mostly the same. He was not the clear and obvious #1 that Caleb was, but most teams had Bryce at QB1. The Panthers were always going to be terrible Bryce's rookie year.  I don't think DJ Moore's presence would have changed anything about that offense, as our guards, center, and left tackle were getting demolished on nearly every snap. It's clear Caleb's dad was trying to do everything possible to ensure Caleb didn't end up in Chicago with Eberflus. It's hard to imagine that he wouldn't have done the same, but probably more publicly with our situation, considering Carolina is an easier target for the media than Chicago. We can all speculate, but it's impossible to tell who is going to have the better career on May 16, 2025. If either QB doesn't pan out, we have an easy answer. If both flame out, the bears clearly won the trade, but it wouldn't have really mattered anyway. We all know how we win the trade. Candidly, even if one of the other picks we gave up ends up being a hall of fame player, we don't know if the panthers would have taken that player anyway. All you can do is make the best decision you can in the moment with the information you have. I really like Bryce Young, and I'm glad he's a Carolina Panther.  The only way to win in the modern NFL is to have an absolute dude at QB. I personally am happy that our franchise recognizes this, as I remember times when they did not.
