No, they shouldn't. How does that logically follow?

I'm not saying you should have to WIN a conference championship game to qualify. I'm saying you should at least have to play in one to qualify. No bye weeks. And yes, I'm fully aware that would exclude ND from ever making the playoffs. Oh well. Join a conference.

The PAC is about to be a mess. USC gets in the title game (and with the win deserve the #4 CFP spot), but Utah and Washington can't both go.

That's all I'm saying. The four best teams need to be in the CFP. Conferences really made it tough on themselves with adding title games. Now powerhouse teams have a chance of losing their last game of the season.

If they loose to an inferior opponent, are they that deserving of being in the playoff?

      Yeah, I think next year will be a semi-rebuild/bridge year until we get nikishkin here. But... If we are able to have those lines you have above next year, I will be thrilled.    Edit: I'm fairly certain Staal retires or goes to another team next year
