I agree. Hurney made lots of terrible moves but I don’t think he had much say in the  Rhule hire

All we know for sure is that going into the interview, Tepper and Drummond had Rhule ranked higher than Hurney had.

Yep, that’s what I remember seeing. Tepper was more sold than Hurney was going in. Hurney had to be convinced a bit more hence why he did more talking.

Hurney and Tepper were gushing like a couple of little school girls at the news conference announcing Matt Rhule as the new Panthers Head Coach.  They went on and on about how they fell in love with the guy within a short period of time after meeting him. 

Frankly, as a fan, it was embarrassing to watch.

Tepper's biggest issue, at the time, was that he had so little knowledge about the game that he thought Marty Hurney was a "genius".   Hopefully, for Panthers fan's sake, Dave has made an effort these last few years to become more decerning about who he takes advice from when it comes to hiring NFL head coaches.
