.. and hear the announcer talking about how the majority panther fans WERENT fairweather fans?? LOL besides most the ppl on here ( and there are few fairweather people here as well) i would have to totally disagree with that comment... it pisses me off how early people are willing to get out of the stadium just so they dont have to sit in 20 minutes of traffic...

What would you consider fairweather? I have no clue what they are using as criteria.

I'm not even sure how to rate myself: if I had the means (distance) to go to every home game I would gladly pay for the tickets to do so, regardless of weather or record. I guess I'm a "real" fan?

well i would define fairweather as someone who claims they are fans when we have a kickass season (like last year) but then will give up on our team when were not doing so well ( this year) or the people that constantly leave early.. and the people in the lower section who tell me to sit down on a 3rd down lol..

I was there and saw every minute of the game. Having said that, you have to realize people will stay and support their team when the team earns it over time. Good year, bad year, good year, bad year, bad year, etc. When the Panthers become contenders year after year panthers fans will become like other fans of successful teams. Until then they will be mediocre fans of a mediocre team.

There are always going to be fair weather fans. Our society breeds it. People have to be entertained, everything is rush here or rush there to the next thing. Fans left because they were bored. People expected a better performance and when they didn't get it, They left. A lot of the ones I saw were old time season ticket holders around me that. They will be back next time but don't see a need to stay and support the team when they play uninspired ball. They believe you get what you give. And in the end leaving early to get ahead of traffic seems more important than watching the last drive or two. This hasn't changed much all year.

I think you have to judge fans by certain criteria to call them great fans. When a team sucks and you still support them - like Browns' fans - you are TRUE fans. When you help sell out another team's stadium like Steeler fans do, you are GREAT fans.

I don't know how well Panther fans travel, if at all? As far as supporting the team when they suck, history shows we're not so great at that. If the weather is bad, we're even worse.

Fact is, we still rank 5th this year in attendance according to ESPN.

http://espn.go.com/nfl/attendance

We've above a LOT of teams. And yes, we've even above the Browns - but let's see where we'd be on the list @ 1-11? The Browns still average 69,440 in attendance at home. In 2001, when we won ONE game, guess we're we ranked??? Dead last! 44,549 on average.

Still -- far as this year, the numbers don't lie. The support is there. Attitude? That's another story. I think home field advantage is meaningless at our house! Seriously...

A lot of that has to do with the organizations desire to scare fans with messages about bad behavior and how to text and report people you don't like. And cops hovering over you at the top of the stadium. It does sort of create this really uncomfortable situation. Most fans are good fans, but if you put this idea into anybody's head that the wrong words might come out or you some how MIGHT upset somebody somehow and get kicked out, you sort of just sit back and shut up and it just sucks for everybody. IMO
