Facing Facts on Moore vs. Delhomme

What if this is the best he is going to play now that he will play teams with actual defenses. What if his numbers get worse not better. Is that still a good thing?

well, I think Matt Moore is basically the guy we saw in 07 and yesterday. I think that is a reasonable assumption....nothing great and nothing bad. Carolina can live with that type play and be competitive.

Now, Matt Moore in a vaccum is not good thing. Matt Moore is a good thing in comparison to having Jake Delhomme and what be brings to the table at this stage of his career.

Things have sunk pretty low.

The eternal optimist who wanted everybody to ignore how badly Jake played against Tampa in a win earlier this season because we won now wants us to temper enthusiasm during a win and at the same time discredits the new quarterback and says he played against a bad defense. You can't make this stuff up.

Mostly agree.

However, I'm not convinced that Moore can't play to a starter level. Next week will be a better test. The Pats are on a downhill slide, but they are a winning club, and aren't going to roll over like the Bucs.

If Moore shines or blows it next week, we'll have a better gauge of his abilities now.

Matt played well, and certainly looked better than Jake has in any given game this year (and a several from last). Hopefully he'll start for the rest of the season, but that won't happen in John Fox has anything to do with it. It's truly amazing to see a coach consistently go with an old QB who is struggling mightily. Though, I'm sure it had something to do with the idiotic extension he received last year, and big paycheck. But for the sake of the future, if you're going to throw picks, at least develop a youngster while doing it.

ashame we didn't see Moore Start with first team in late Sept or early Oct(when Jake should've been pulled for atleast one game). Problem now is we are seeing Moore without a 100% first string and players trying to not get hurt now that playoff chances are over basically. Plus some of the last few games will be against teams not giving their 100% either.

Umm... I believe we are going to get 100% from all of our remaining opponents:

NE - Only a game ahead of MIA in the AFC East. And Miami is the winner of all the tie-breakers at this point. NE is in a must-win scenario against us.

Min - Min plays Cincy next, who is red-hot. Both need a couple wins to clinch. Either way, if Green Bay wins tonight, they are only 2 games behind Min. And even if Min clinches, they need to win to keep a first round bye. I'd count on them going after us full steam.

NYG - The Giants are just a game behind PHI and DAL in a footrace for the NFC East and one of the two Wildcard spots. In three games, it's entirely conceivable that the Giants might be tied for first in the NFC East. They certainly will be ready to go at us with a full attack in any scenario.

NO - I don't see any of the teams NO has to face being all that hard for them to beat. This leaves us as the last hurdle for a perfect season. Sean Payton has already said they're going for 16-0. Don't expect any resting for anyone in this game.

So... yeah... Moore has his hands full if he remains the starter for the rest of the year.

How was that game for Moore better than Jake's 2 games against Atlanta this year when his rating was over 100. Be serious.

And keep in mind that this battle isn't against Jake so much as showing folks he can be the starter. If he isn't good the rest of the way he will be gone next year. His performance yesterday won't be enough to secure a job next year.

Too early to be making excuses.

    • Taking only players from the sheet that are realistically available in or after the listed round, I’d like… 1st: DT Caleb Banks (Styles not realistic) 2nd: LB Jacob Rodriguez 3rd: OT Best available from Bowry, Barber, and Casey 4th: CB Daylen Everette 5th: S Jalen Huskey 6th: RB Adam Randall 7th: IOL Best available from Lemieux, Dawkins, Leausa, and Brose   I know nothing about some of the players listed, but it seems like that would be the best way it could fall for now. I’m sure the list of who we meet will change a ton, and there will also be players we don’t meet with to keep quiet. I’d love to pick up Randall in the late rounds.
    • Not what I said. They know within the building why we aren't utilizing TEs more. If the rumors were true that we were seriously pursuing a couple of decent receiving TEs that strongly points toward a lack of quality receiving TEs currently on the roster. Does that mean we consider drafting one at 19? I don't know, but it wouldn't shock me and if we did there's only one guy it would be. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see TE drafting somewhere in the first three rounds.
    • Yeah, I don’t know. Tepper was behind the Bryce selection. Behind firings and hiring over his lack of development.  He doesn’t have to literally tell them their hands are tied for them to know this. It is in the air constantly. The Canales Bryce play calling was even portrayed by more than one person as Canales failing Bryce, instead of Bryce being responsible for his own performance (except when he does well, then it is all him). Now they have an extra coach in, to help the new OC get results from this QB.  The atmosphere is not welcoming to prototypical young QBs that have talent. You get Jake Plummer types or old vets. I think we are stuck.
