Why I believe the pick will be AR-15

Won’t be the 1st 2 years when he’s not playing..

Pete Carroll will start him. Trust your coach. None of us sees what he sees, he's probably the most experienced offensive mind we've ever had.

If this was Matt Rhule I'd give a serious side eye but Reich, why did we get him if we don't trust him and handcuff him to his second choice IF the stories are true.

Smitty and TD may be more in touch with the feelings of the coach who was told it was ultimately up to him, who knows?! Rhule got to make his choices. I'm ok with a real coach making his decision.

As long as the QB can get on the adult rides at Carowinds

Not after signing Geno.. And actually that would be the best for AR.. Sitting and learning from Geno..

And Again at 5 thru 9 I understand..

At 1 with 2 other better prospects I questioned the thought process..

After trading what we did to acquire that pick.. I questioned the thought process..

Why am I giving up so much to get a project?? Why are we gambling with so much to gamble more??

But again Im a fan whatever they do I will talk myself into.. I really just don’t want to anymore…

That's the thing though. If you think AR has what it takes mentally then there might not be a better prospect available. Are Young and Stroud better QBs right now? Yeah, I think that's fair to say. Will they be better QBs in 3 years? 5 years? That I'm a lot less confident about. If Richardson hits he's gonna be a STUD. It just comes down to what you think he has between the ears and how hard you think he's willing to work on his craft which are the types of things us fans get virtually no insight into.

Russ was supposed to sit and won the job in camp with Carroll.

AR can start with Pete, he's already had success with Russ, AR is a whole different more powerful animal.

He will take the job, Pete has no problem with him winning it.

I hope at the min he goes somewhere that’ll coach him up the right way, him being awesome will make the NFL more fun.

We made the trade to get into the QB conversation - it's pretty clear now that only Levis has a shot of being there at #9 overall and that's a hard no from me.

We've been repeatedly told that the difference between acquiring #1 and #3 was negligible in terms of Draft capital, so we pulled the trigger.

With regards to Richardson sitting - honestly I think that's the last thing he needs. He has 13 career starts (and is THIS advanced with his pocket presence / movement, reads and anticipation) - the guy needs to play football. He's only going to learn through experience.

You need to tweak his mechanics, but that's what the offseason and Training Camp is for.

I will be banned if he goes somewhere else and shows out and Young dies on an innocuous play and Stroud hits a 'competent NFL starter' ceiling.

Just like Chud did with Cam, IF you have the coach who can BUILD a system around a talented QB, AR is the best pick of the draft totally worth the #1.

IF this was the Panthers previous staff or even Rivera's staff I'd say pass on this Cam because you wouldn't know what to do with him or you'll continue to slam a round peg into a square hole like Shula and Rivera.

Chud was smart, he designed everything to Cams strengths, he designed everything for Cam off the two tight end sets and cloaked designed runs.

IF this staff can be Chud for AR instead of Shula for Cam, his ceiling will be the sky.

I appreciate how in on Richardson you are I can’t lie he’s insanely exciting to project.

I did the same with Mahomes - started off thinking "meh, he's just a big armed kid in a QB friendly system playing backyard football - that'll never fly in the NFL". Then the more you watched his tape, the more you saw he knew exactly what he was doing on those 'crazy' plays.

I don't think Richardson is Mahomes btw - he's the best QB prospect I've ever seen - but I think he's a franchise QB (i.e. a top 5 QB in the NFL that you wouldn't trade for the world) if he pans out.

A good deal of my projection for Richardson is based on the fact he's 20 years old, had a terrible supporting cast (both players and coaches) and has only 13 career starts btw. If he looked like this as a 23 year old in year 3 I'd be much less bullish on him.

I was a big Mahomes guy as well, I still don’t get how so many teams missed that. I tend love aggressive QBs that don’t play scared.

My favorite thing about Richardson is he does a lot of the things I love my QBs to do already, I think he’s almost as good in the pocket as I think Young is, it’s impressive what he does with so little experience. I think most his flaws can be fixed by just mechanics related stuff, though his short accuracy does worry me long term it’s hard to project exactly how much a consistent base would improve his accuracy but I would take the risk to find out.

If I’m being honest I’d probably take Richardson over Stroud, but I know that’s me pushing the upside button in my head, which probably explains a bit of why I’m not as scared of Young as many in here.

Why??
I understand bigger faster great athlete thing.. But they aren’t winning super bowls ..

We keep saying “once they learn how to pass” but even when they do.. They are still not as consistent or better then the actual passers or “pocket guys” who are less athletic.. I’m waiting on this big change in the environment.. But Brady still wins, Mahomes still wins Stafford wins.. They still find ways to consistently beat the super athletes.. They are still finding ways to orchestrate top offenses without athleticism..

Not debating this because I understand the thinking in this.. But at some point we might need to give credit to the good pocket passers coming out getting better at their craft and that being considered “upside”..

Like this dude is so good at reading defenses and accuracy and anticipation.. That no matter what defense you’re playing he is going to carve you up..

The good pocket passers that were playing on the overwhelmingly more talented team 95% of the time?

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
