Realistic QB draft candidates: Hiller, Skelton and Perrilloux.

There are a few diamonds in the rough in every draft class. Teams just have to be lucky enough to find the right ones. Here are three NFL prospects at QB that may be available. I have given you a loose, nutshell of a synopsis. Do your own research on them and see what you think. Perhaps a few of you already know a little something about these guys and can add some perspective.

Ryan Perrilloux:

Somewhat of a troubled history, including being sent packing from LSU, but has shown steady improvement on and off the field at Jacksonville State. He has thrown for impressive yardage, is mobile and has the highest passer rating out of any NFL prospect at the moment.

John Skelton:

Fordham's offensive machine has excellent size and strength, and has shined against inferior talent. Great pocket presence and accurate. It is Fordham, however, so there are questions as to whether his success will translate at the pro level.

Tim Hiller:

Has a cannon, good size, and accurate, though there are questions about his short passing game. Can put good touch on the ball. There are questions about whether he can succeed with inferior talent (but to me that's pretty stupid considering he'd be coming to the NFL). If he's still available, he would probably be my pick at this point.

take it from an LSU fan; Perrilloux is a first class piece of sh it. Why are you focusing on division 1AA talent?

Nothing inherently wrong with division 1AA talent. Just looking at the top QB prospects out of the class. The Golden Calf of Bristol and others will be gone.

guys ---- please stop panicking about the draft ..... as it stands now we are giving san fran our pick which will be between 7 and 14.......that means our 2nd round pick will be between 39 and 46......lots of good, good talent will be available.. look at who needs QBs ---- not cleve, tb, det, san fran, chi . or kc so that leaves wash, buff, stl, oak............i think we will still be able to get a QB in round 2.

ha -- maybe somebody will be crazy enough to want peppers and we can pick up a couple extra picks (very doubtful tho')

These guys will be our main competition for a QB.

Bills

Jags

Raiders

Skins

Vikings

Rams

Seahawks

I don't really see why the Jags, Skins, Vikings and Seahawks are on this list. The Vikings will more than likely give T-Jax another shot, the Jags have Garrard who has been a more than serviceable starter and have more glaring needs, Jason Campbell is not the Skins problem and the Seahawks have Hasslebeck and have much more glaring needs.

The only way the Jags take a QB is if they get pressured in to taking The Golden Calf of Bristol and the Raiders may not even be looking for a QB if Gradkowski continues to play the way he does.

All that being said, we still won't be drafting a QB.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
