Lions cut FB Terrelle Smith

Mr. Scot

The Lions let him go in the wake of an incident where he was accused of going after Terrell Suggs knees. The Lions haven't said anything about the release, so no word if that was why or there was another reason (multiple sources).

Smith, 31, has played for the Saints, Browns and Lions. He's more of the sledgehammer blocker type of fullback than the hybrid type like Hoover. Sort of a younger Lorenzo Neal, but no spring chicken (he's 31, only two years younger than Hoover).

Still, with Hoover ailing and Fiammetta still learning, he might be a "bridge" option. And if, as some suspect, anybody that can possibly go on IR is going for the sake of Fox's job, you could conceivably see his name pop up here. He was someone I previously wished we would have look at in free agency.

You want to sign a guy that was cut by the worst team in the league over the course of the last 3 years? Ouch. Even the bucs would not touch that one.

lol bad teams have no talent am i rite guys/

So if the Lions cut Calvin Johnson tomorrow, you'd pass on him I take it.

Haha. Well teams usually do not cut players that can help their team unless they have serious off the field issues.

Would I sign CJ if he got cut? Hellz yeah, he would not get cut because he is such an outstanding player.

Good thought but it doesn't really stand up.

Let me ask you this: are there any Bucs that were cut last year that you would want back right now?

Honestly, no. You can argue that Jeff Garcia is better than what we have but our team is better off with a future at QB than a stop gap.

BTW how exactly did someone put that xmas girl picture as my avatar? Obviously this board runs a little different than what i'm use to.

Are the Mods playing a joke on me?

    • I forgot about Burrow, he is elite when healthy.
    • Solid in free agency, and lets not forget the draft--Most teams expect to get 2 starters/key contributors out of the draft.  3 is a banner year, but more common for bad teams.   Look at this draft: TMac.  Yes please.  Sorely needed since XL is becoming the road kill he often eats. DAY 2 Scourton.  Pay attention.  he is a stud and playing like one.  A second-round edge?  Rare. Princely.  He has flashed a bit, but he is developmental. Bothered by an ankle.   I expect him to step up, if he is going to, by year 3.  That is the year, if you think about it. we saw the emergence of Greg Hardy and Charles Johnson.  I have not seen him on the field much lately (injured?) but I noticed he was a liability vs. the run in the few plays I paid attention.  Too early to tell. DAY 3 Etienne.  As a returner and third RB, a key contributor for a fourth rounder. Ransom.  He has been contributing, and I have little doubt he will push Scott to pasture. Mitchell.  Perhaps Morgan's best pick.  A good blocking, pass catching TE with swag.  In round 5.  I think he is our best TE already. Horn.  They are finding ways to use him.  Yes, he reminds me of Steve Smith a bit during his first half season of his rookie year.  They did not really know what they had at that time.   Cam Jackson: A fifth rounder has not played much, but he was and is developmental.
    • What job did he get done?   He was an albatross around the teams neck and they won despite him
