But to respond, there's no way you voluntarily let go of Williams, unless you want to see him become a hall of fame player somewhere else.

attempts at extending williams's contract happened after the 2008 season.

both parties agreed to leave his contract the way it is.

He is still on his rookie contract. He is cheap, and our first back to back 1000 yard rusher in our franchise history. He isn't going anywhere. We would franchise him before we let him go.

I would hope he finishes his career as a Panther. I can't see the FO office not working hard to keep him here. I would really like to see both he and Stewart stay until they retire. Probably won't happen but it would be nice.

depending on how next season goes, I wouldn't blame him if he wanted to walk away. 2nd highest yard per carry average and he still isn't getting the amount of carries he deserves. It makes me sick knowing Chris Johnson gets 25'ish +/- a few carries a game, and we're lucky if Fox gives Williams/Stewart 25 carries COMBINED. He has the potential to go for 2k yards if given a f**kin chance..

I'm not saying stop splitting carries, I'm saying we should be calling 35+ runs a game, if not more.

Maybe his exit from Denver helped him see the error of his ways. Last year the lack of a rushing attack really hurt them toward the end of the season. They used to rely on the blocking scheme but could have benefited from a workhouse like they had with Terrell Davis back in 1998-99. Which is what Williams is to us. A workhorse with breakaway speed.

After looking at this article, I was reminded of how many 1000 yard rushers Denver has produced since Shanahan went there in 1995.

Still I can't see us going after Shanahan. Although we tried before to hire the super bowl coach and hopefully learned from the failure.
