Now that I've beat up JT for some of his worst work, if you want to see some of his best watch his week one breakdown of Howell.

Now everyone knows I'm a Howell fanboy but this one came across really fair and unbiased and pointed out some good stuff - both good and bad - that's easy to miss just watching the game. He even caught himself a couple of times and admitted that some of his critique on certain plays was getting really nit picky.

Oh it was IMMEDIATELY obvious. Makes me wonder if he has trashed him in previous videos? Might check some Minnesota stuff from him to see.

He has. In all videos this season, starting in preseason. He's done either 2 or 3 bryce young videos including preseason. Idk about Vikings last year. I pulled up one game and started watching it, but about 5 seconds in, I realized i didn't care enough to put the time into to research it.

Kinda wished you used something other than a Howell video for this post, because I can't tell if it's praise for JT for this video due to your biases.

(Not disagreeing about JT's biases though. He definitely gives guys more slack if he likes them.)

I watched two of the Minnesota vids from last season and he had one moderate criticism of Theilen on running out of bounds too early but it was pretty minor. Basically no real positives or negatives otherwise. Very neutral.

My ultimate guess is that the little frustrated tantrum Theilen threw probably really rubbed JC the wrong way, so he took it out on him.

IDK. I guess we will see what he says the rest of the season.

    • I am no football savant as has been demonstrated here over and over, but I saw it.  I went for years doing the mock draft thing and researching the players that we might get around our pick, time consuming stuff. And we would get to the draft and trade the pick. All that time, wasted.  So I quit doing that. Also realized I was not a scout and would never be a scout and went to looking the videos and reports After  we picked a guy.  Maybe I would look at the 1st round, but quit that too and just looked after we picked.    When they did that trade I saw Bryce and his size and just ruled him out. Then it got to yeah they are probably going to take him, I relented and looked at some video and got to his pro day. It took me all of a few minutes to see the issues. The footwork. The arm. And the tape of games? The backyard style. I knew, what can I say?  (Also, went down the physical checklist, not a single plus attribute on the NFL level. Arm, speed, size, etc, nothing to offset the negatives. nothing)  I think it was easy for me because I had not watched a single game he played in college, and wasn’t drawn in by the hype. Had no preconceived notions and just looked at it pretty clinically.  I got in here and everyone was going “but look at what he did in college! It is the SEC, if he can do it in the SEC he can do it in the NFL!” Couldn’t reason with hardly anyone.  I don’t think I could tell you which guy would succeed between two prototypical guys with great arms and athleticism, and have no special insight into any of that. My one calling in football scouting was to see the real about what we were about to do. And you still don’t know for sure until they get in a real game in the NFL.
    • Miss Bryce sorely is possibly the most hilarious statement I have read on the Huddle in quite some time.
    • He did only throw 1 pass 20+ in that game. I think he is still struggling to adjust to the NFL. At Alabama he was able to extend plays and play backyard football. That's not only not the style of offense we have been running but his physical skills don't lend themselves to that style of play at this level.  So, the amount of issues he actually has to clean up are WAAAAAY more than I anticipated as a guy that had Bryce #1 on my board in that draft class.  I am just not seeing a reasonable path for him to clean it all up and develop in a reasonable timeframe
