Which offensive line do you wanna see?

the offensive line in the second half of the season, which included many backups and players in new positions, looked much better than what we started with. I don't remember nearly as many runs where JStew or DWill ran into the back of their blockers for a three yard loss in the last 6 weeks.

Which line do we see next year? The guys who started, or the guys who finished?

I sincerely doubt we sit Gross and Otah, if that's what you're implying.

I'm thinking he is wanting to trade one or both of them. I would consider trading Otah (I think Schwartz can fill in nicely at RT) for a 1st but otherwise, no. Gross is a great LT wherein Wharton is a good LT great LG.

If you notice the playcalling had a lot of plays rolling outside the pocket to keep Moore from being under pressure. That could be because of Moore's better mobility or it could be because of scheming to cover up our olines weakness IDK.

It should be noted that last season the O-Line and run game exploded down the stretch, very similar to this year. I think it probably has something more to do with cohesiveness, repetition and finding their rhythm than it is personnel.

I will say that our O-line should be set for next year, I don't see the need to make a single change.

i was thinking along the lines of a trade... but it is comforting having such capable backups

yeah, definitely is nice to know we have great depth at o-line. look at the Packers when their o-line got banged up early on, they were on pace to shatter the single season sacks allowed record.

however, I have complete confidence in our offensive line coaches/etc. We got Schwartz LATE in the 7th round, and they turned him into a respectable player. Shouldn't be too hard to find a decent back-up that they can mold into a good player.

moore being able to actually throw a completion helped things too... kept defenses honest. when jake was at the helm defenses would blitz like crazy or drop eight in the box to stop the run... that never makes it easy on offensive lines.

i think it's no coincidence that everyone's looked better since moore started.

I think that has a lot to do with it.

I also agree with this. It's not just the offensive line we should look at, but also our opposing defensive lines and the performances of the backs themselves.

I was very impressed with the performance of our makeshift line, but I wouldn't be so quick to start any of our backups or trade away players like Gross and Otah. If anything, I'd want to try and send away backups for picks, a la last year. Really though, I'd rather just keep them knowing we've got great depth on the line.

Sometimes it's okay to recognize you have great depth at positions without feeling the need to have them supplant the starters (especially when said starters are Pro Bowlers).

    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
    • poo I doubt any Bucs fan would trade Baker for BY either lol.
