Panthers Receivers Coach retires

Why in the world would he leave the Saints, who have better WRs, to come here where we have worse? I highly doubt we'd offer that much more money to make him jump. Oh, and I could look good as a WR coach with Brees as my QB.

Actually, I don't feel like looking it up, but I'm not sure if Asst. Coaches can make lateral moves anyway... So it probably isn't a possibility either way.

And you're kind of right about Brees making them look good, but honestly, LANCE MOORE??? lol. But to your point, Matt Moore made Dwayne Jarrett look like the second coming of Michael Irvin.

Coaches have contracts, same as players. It would depend on whether or not he was out of contract.

There's no easy resource for tracking coaching free agents like there is for players. You essentially just have to do the research.

(or just sit around here until I do it) :sosp:

Thats why I stoped at GM. It was time consuming as hell.

Do we even need a WR coach? Can't we just let Smitty and Moose take care of that. I'd say those are two very different and very good guys to learn from.

Moose could teach the finer points of succeeding in the NFL (how to push off without getting called, how to hold without getting called, how to block and run routes).

Smitty could be in charge of teaching the less tangible aspects of being a WR (how to score touchdowns, how to embarrass the entire Texans defense, how to not get tackled, jumping really high and running really fast, getting in the head of opposing corners, bailing out your QB on a weekly basis, and finishing plays even with fractured limbs).

Moose needs to retire and Smitty is a not going to "coach up" guys properly....his is kinda a...you know....jerk. How many guys drafted by Carolina at WR are still playing WR while Moose and Smith have been in a Panther uniform?

This man deserves respect. If you're gonna blame him for the WR's that didn't develop, then you also have to give him credit for the one's who did, like Smitty and Moose.

Personally, I would like to thank him for all his hard work, and I wish him nothing but the best.

He took Drew Carter under his wing and they worked out together. I think he's a good mentor as long as the guy warrants his respect.
