Panthers Expert opinions

What in your opinion is the worst call by a official that cost the Panthers the game?

The roughing the kicker call versus Dallas in 2007.

5 Panther Players Greatest Moment and Greatest Choke performance?

1. Jake Delhomme

Greatest: Divisonal game vs. St. Louis

Choke: Divisional game vs. Arizona

2. Steve Smith

Greatest: same as Jake's

Choke: I remember he fumbled two kickoffs in one game during his rookie year.

3. Julius Peppers

Greatest: Pick any random game in 2004

Choke: Where was he in the Super Bowl?

4, John Kasey

Greatest: 1995-2010. So great 99% of his fans can't spell his name. K-A-S-A-Y

Choke: I won't say the Super Bowl. The NFL (and refs) would not have let us win that game. They made a mistake and let the Bucs win in 2002. No way it would have happened again. No answer.

5. John Fox

Greatest: NFC Championship 2003

Choke: 2002 and 2004: brought us from nothings to playoff contenders, only to lose a very winnable game to eliminate us.

Worst officiated game that cost the Panthers a chance at the win:

Entire Dallas game in 2007

Greatest Panthers Moment/Performance:

Jake Delhomme/Steve Smith- X-Clown, 2004

Greatest Choke Performance:

Jake vs. Arizona 2009

Greatest moment (only cause I was there) Smitty using Smoots for 200+ yds after Smoots had run his mouth how he was gonna shut Smitty down.

Can't argue worst at all.

That entire Dallas game was a JOKE. I still burn thinking about it. I can recall 2 phantom pass interference calls go against us, 2 muggings for Dallas that were never called and that pass pay to Smitty that was called incomplete when he clearly caught it. I forgot about the roughing the kicker call.

If you were a believer in the NFL rigging games. That would be one of them. Wasn't that the year Romo CHOKED on the extra point.

Go Panthers

    • That's part of being patient too. Not rushing players into roles they aren't ready for. Make them earn it. If you convince yourself that "so and so" needs to start because they were a first round pick, even though they have done nothing to earn it, you have set up both team and player for failure. You can convince yourself all day long that "there is no substitute for game experience" but if the guy can't do his job in practice, he can't do it in a game. Not consistently, anyway.  Teams like the Steelers, the Ravens and the Packers ROUTINELY bench rookies to start off with and no one bats an eyelash. Even if the team is losing. Because that's what they do. They have set the precedent. The players have to show they are ready. Then they get their chance.
    • Let me provide you with some food for thought. Before this "now era" of the NFL, QBs were allowed time to develop. Everyone from the GM to the fans had more patience. QBs were simply better in the old because they were afforded the time to sit, observe and learn. It's no wonder that guys we threw away, or simply didn't want, have had varying degrees of success elsewhere.  Some Huddlers were talking crazy about Jordan Love and Lamar Jackson---just crazy...
    • I think the JAG debates are largely people having vastly different definitions of JAG.  The OG JAG LB debate was James Anderson.  And James Anderson is probably going to be ahead of Shaq on my alltime LB list (it's really close though).
