PFF: Why the Carolina Panthers should trade for DeAndre Hopkins

Second dumbest move of the offseason was passing on D Hopkins to pair with Young. Easily could have afforded him.

First dumbest move was giving up Dj Moore in the first place. Get pick #3 and this season is completely different. Probably still get Bryce too lol.

Year in and year out we all call for moves that make a ton of sense…it doesn’t happen. Then there is retrospective analysis. Pretty frustrating. Who knows how the season for the team and BY is different if he has Thielen AND Hop as his top receivers.

I understand you love Alabama, but you can’t trade for players who aren’t available.

You obviously do not follow other teams on who is available and their needs like i do. They NEED Burns to fill their missing link and are loaded with playmakers. Do the math and you will understand the Lions are highly motivated but are we????

Yes a random writer suggested they trade him.  I don't see them moving on from a first round WR after a year and a half when they haven't been able to see  what they have him.  Generally teams that are contending don't give away players/weapons to acquire talent, they would likely move draft picks.  They have St Brown and LaPorta is looking legit, but are an offensive team that isn't wanting to get rid of fire power.  It's why the Bengals aren't trading Higgins this year either.  They want him for the playoiffs.

We already know your argument make little sense unfortunately. Higgins for the Bengals is proven commodity in the NFL and is highly NEEDED if an elite corner is able to shut down Chase. No difference than Gabe Davis being their 2nd option if the defense can shut down Diggs like last night. Jemo is NOT proven and is burning a hole in their cap for being a high draft pick while they do NEED Burns to get them over the top, so they CAN compete against the likes of Philly/SF for the chance to represent in the SB. The window is short so when the opportunity present itself, any smart GM would try to make it happen. We are wasting Burns talent on a rebuilding team while Jemo can hopefully replace DJ as our ONLY playmaker! Please think next time.

0-6 and we're grasping at straws

There is no reason to. The cast is set. We just are what we are.

No reason to trade away anything. Let the chips fall where they may and evaluate the FO and coaching staff in the offseason.

I am even off the firing Reich bandwagon. WTF does it even matter at this point? Do we really expect some sort of miraculous, Wilks-like turnaround?

OMFG NO. STOP IT. If this 0-6 team trades away anything for a player prior to the trade deadline, Fitterer needs to be fired immediately. We will have plenty of cap space to make moves in the off-season.

It's like going to Vegas and gambling away all your spending money. Pulling from the kids college fund isn't going to turn your luck around. It will only dig a deeper hole. Hold tight, enjoy your prepaid shows. There will be other vacations.

Late round picks mean about as much as signing a UDFA. They're akin to the bin items at Goodwill. We'll over half of them end up with as much value as the peanut shells people toss on the floor at Logan's Roadhouse.

For me, player acquisitions, regardless of when they happen, are all about value.

Ok well let’s just see if they trade away their first round WR from a year ago or not. I’m betting they don’t but I won’t complain if we get him.

I'm not for firing him either. We made that mistake last year. We aren't winning the division. We may not win a game. Take our lumps, get the 33rd pick, chalk it up to another Tepper FUBAR, and go get Ben Johnson.

If he turned us down last year, he isn't likely to come this time. He has a good thing going in Detroit. There is no reason to leave there for a while, TBH.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
