No, I don't. But the fact remains that he put up significantly better numbers in one game than Bryce has in nine. That can't be ignored. Same offense. Same OL (Dalton was under heavy pressure all game). Same receivers. Very different looking results. Interesting.

I'm not directly comparing Bryce to Cam. Everyone knows they're very different QBs. My point was that you're looking splashes of the talent to be elite, regardless of the W-L record. We saw it in droves with Cam. We haven't seen much at all to cling to out of Bryce.

Why do you think Dalton's performance against Seattle was better than Young's against Houston?  Young just didn't have as many attempts but his YPA was better plus his completion % was better and (most importantly) he secured a win.  Dalton had more yards but I would argue he was the less efficient QB.  I just think Dalton's game wasn't that special that's all.  It gets overhyped on here quite a bit IMO...

Dalton's game wasn't special it was just pretty good which makes it pretty special for the Panthers in recent years.

In Bryce's best game as a pro he threw for 235 yards and a TD and we scored 15 points in an ugly defensive struggle win. I mean... that pretty much says it all right there.

Hell, we don't even have to go back to Cam. Teddy Bridgewater had better  games as a Panther than Bryce has ever had. Sam Darnold had better games as a Panthers than Bryce has ever had. Baker Mayfield had better games as a Panther than Bryce has ever had.

I just thought our last #1 overall pick was a fair comp for our current #1 overall pick. Yeah, they're very different players and I don't expect Bryce to be able to do the same things that Cam could do but is a highlight here and there and just a wee bit of excitement really too much to ask of out of ab#1 pick? It doesn't help that Stroud is rewriting rookie record books in Houston with a less than stellar supporting cast.

Yeah one QB had a higher completion %, a better YPA, and a win vs one who threw it 27 more times (nearly double) had more yards and one more TD in a loss.  It's a strange flex to me.  I hate to state the obvious, but if you throw it twice as much you typically get more yards even with a lower YPA....

Young's best game was very pedestrian, and you can easily argue he played better than Dalton.

I wish we took Stroud.  He was my draft crush, but we can't change the past.  He would have our offense looking better now doubt, but I am not sure how good peak Rodgers could look in this Fitter/Reich poo show.

We have to try to argue that Bryce's best game out of nine MIGHT be better than the one game a washed up journeyman played in the same offense with the same OL and receivers. Yeah, again... that pretty much says it all.

At this point I'm left hoping that Bryce can deliver us #1 overall in '25.

That's really all I am saying.  Dalton's game wasn't that great.  Reich/Fitt and company have completely screwed this whole thing up.  Part of that is picking Young over Stroud to go with this terrible scheme and terrible roster.

If Bryce can get Fitt and Reich fired plus deliver us someone like Sanders in 25 with an actual GM and HC that know what they are doing then that may make all of this worth it.  We need a HARD reset in 25 if we continue down this road.

I went back and looked at the drive stats, in that game, in that loud stadium, dudes all over him he made completions for: 23,47,28,23,15,25. These are only the bigger ones. He had lots in the 5 to 10 range.

Only the 28 yard shot to Chark came on a 1st down. All the rest were on 2nd or 3rd and only 2 of them were 3rd and short.

these were in deafening Seattle, throw off back foot guy in his face or stand in pocket and get rolled type throws. We haven’t seen that type of performance in years. To minimize it is a crime.

that was a big boy game, regardless of what their pasing d stats said. that’s the game that has Bryce in surgery that night.

I truly hope Bryce can morph in to that one day.

If Bryce was a playmaker, he would have made one by now. And by that, I mean a play only a few other QBs could pull off.

It’s so depressing to know that THE MOST OBVIOUS draft pick we’ve had since Cam, was passed over for the guy who does nothing well and many things poorly.

Every game feels like the turd that just won’t flush. So hideously frustrating.

Well, it's definitely not because the turd is too big.

    • I think Indiana will win it all but Miami should give them a much better fight than Oregon did.
    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
