I'm still pissed we took Corral over Howell

Also they did trade away their entire dline

Their D was already last in the league when they traded away their starting DEs. Their secondary is basically 2016 Panthers bad when we had two rookies and a bunch of castoffs back there.

That's not surprising given their coach and how little he values safetys and DBs in general...

Howell ended up in the second worst spot IMO. Worst being the dumpster fire in Charlotte. Second to worse playing for Ron who we all know views QB protection as the QB's problem.

Whatever legacy Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio has as defensive coaches died this year.

He's performed admirably considering what he's working with its insane he is leading the NFL in passing despite being sacked 50 times.... in a 2022 draft redo he probably goes #1

Bieniemy very obviously came into that job simply auditioning for a HC role. In the process, I think all he's done is show everyone that him being passed over all those times wasn't a bad call. It's wild how a former RB just completely abandons the run for huge chunks of every game... with an OL that can't pass protect to save their lives. I'm not sure he'll even get another OC job. He might be a position coach after this.

    • Absolutely. He just turned 27 a few days ago, so quite young. He and Moehrig would be quite the pairing.  I know we say this every year, but this FA period has A LOT of talent that will be switching uniforms. We were aggressive last year and have no doubt this time next week will have some studs on defense.
    • DJ Moore has always been a bit of an enigma. He came here young, flashed a ton of potential, but never truly grew into a real #1. He’s had a few good reasons, but yet to have a real monster season (outside of his first year with Chicago) We’re still waiting for him to blossom, but he will be 29 next season. I fear that it is too late for him at this point.
    • I have considered free agency.  LT?  Either not good enough or too expensive.  Besides, this is a good OT draft.  (I would rather have a free agent, mind you, but the Panthers' reality suggests we can't do it without neglecting other positions).  What LTs are available in free agency, and what do you expect to pay?  Any Ickey-level OT is going to cost over $20m.   How much do we already have invested in our OL?  I get your point, but I do not think you can spend over $100m per on your OL. We have 2 guards and a right T who pull in about $75m per season.  We don't have a center yet.  Teams just don't let good LTs hit free agency, and when one does on rare occasion, he is expensive.  If you want a third of the Panther cap going to 5 Offensive Linemen, free agency is the way to go.  We still need S, ILB, Edge, WR, etc. I think we'd need more than Nijman--and I would understand if we went free agent for a T--but that is putting a TON of your cap at OL--so considering our situation, I do not see that option as preferable.  You may disagree. If I was not talking LT on our line and thinking about the cap, I would agree 100%.
