Attitude!

Oh sure, JP will have the stats when it's all said and done. But he doesn't have an attitude on the field. He does have an attitude that the Panthers owe him something and that will be his down fall and why he will never really be considered one of the great Defensive players in the NFL.

He plays the game like it's a side sport sometimes. Not saying he doesn't love the game because obviously he has sacrificed his body for football but I think he might play the game like we would play basketball, baseball or soccer, etc. Sure you love the game, but you don't give it your heart.

You watch him at all this season? He was more animated this year than he's normally been.

Yeah, because for the last two years he has been playing for the big payday. Play for the glory and the money will come. Something I don't think he or his "agent" understand.

You read the article where he said he didnt sign the contract to make him the highest paid DE in the league because he felt he didnt deserve it right? Well he has now for the past 2 years.

And what exactly do you mean attitude? Reggie White wasn't animated like a Ray Lewis. He was calm and did his job and did it really well. So what makes you think White has attitude? Is it because of something he's said to the media? So just because Peppers doesn't talk to the media, that means he has no attitude?

With the exception of Jack Lambert id say a vocabulary...

peppers is actually a lot smarter than you'd think, he just has a severe social anxiety problem.

it goes into how his personality doesn't compare to the people in the OP. It's not intelligence, it's just he doesn't have that same kind of insanity that makes Steve Smith so good.

Speaking of Steve, if we want to talk about stupid players...

    • You're correct (on its face). But PFF does indeed use advanced stats to come up with their grades. Not trying to turn this into a debate about PFF (at all because it's been done ad nauseum), but here is how PFF explains it:   GRADES VS. STATS We aren’t grading players based on the yardage they rack up or the stats they collect. Statistics can be indicative of performance but don’t tell the whole story and can often lie badly. Quarterbacks can throw the ball straight to defenders but if the ball is dropped, you won't see it on the stat sheet. Conversely, they can dump the ball off on a sequence of screen passes and end up with a gaudy looking stat line if those skill position players do enough work after the catch. PFF grades the play, not its result, so the quarterback that throws the ball to defenders will be downgraded whether the defender catches the ball to notch the interception on the stat sheet or not. No amount of broken tackles and yards after the catch from a bubble screen will earn a quarterback a better grade, even though his passing stats may be getting padded. The same is true for most positions. Statistics can be misleading. A tackle whose quarterback gets the ball out of his hands quicker than anybody else may not give up many sacks, but he can still be beaten often and earn a poor grade. Receivers that are targeted relentlessly could post big-time numbers but may offer little more than the product of a volume-based aerial attack. https://www.pff.com/grades So PFF uses stats to come up with player grades and rankings.
