Peppers would have to give NE a discount...

I don't think for a minute that this is about the dollas for Pep.

He wants to play somewhere else, and in a different system.

I disagree.

After seeing Meeks system and his energy, I really think he wanted to sign here. It seems that it is the Panthers who are somewhat tired of him.

Tired of his inconsistency...tired of him disappearing for games at a time...tired of the way he held this team captive last year.

And despite what some of the resident posters around here think, tired of him playing like that and then demanding to be the highest paid defensive player in the league. He was insulted that the one offer they made after his 2.5 sack season only barely made him the highest paid for christsake!!!

When Peppers hits free agency the team most likey to sign him and offer the biggest contract will be the Panthers. The Eagles and Falcons I think will be in the running but in the end, the Panthers will offer him the best deal.

He did himself a disservice by not signing 2 years ago. We offered him a HUGE deal that was completely unwarranted and he turned us down thinking he'd get more. Having more teams involved now is not going to drive the price past what we were willing to give him. He is still going to get north of 10 million per year but not getting the 12-14 million he thinks he is worth.

In the end, unless a ridiculous offer is made by Jerry Jones or someone with that kind of a mindset the offer is going to be 5 years 52 million or somewhere around there. He's not getting the 8 year deal when he's 30 years old and he's not getting a 5 year deal where he's going to be due more than 11 million a year. Sorry Pep...you aren't worth it.

Peppers wants respect and money = respect to these guys... so it's always about the money. He said in his interview that he didn't take the contact to be the highest paid defensive player in 2007 because he didn't feel he deserved that contract. In other words, the 2007 contact wouldn't bring him the respect he wanted because he didn't earn it.

It's not about the money in terms of greed, it's about the money in terms of respect. Peppers wants Haynesworth type respect.
