Dunta Robinson will enter free agency

@Adam_Schefter:

Just like Panthers are allowing DE Julius Peppers to leave in free agency, Texans are doing the same with CB Dunta Robinson. No tag.

I wouldn't mind letting him battle with Marshall, and Munnerlyn for the #2 CB spot. competition is always good. the only question is, how much was his tag last year and how much does he cost? anyone know?

I think he'll be out of the Panthers price range. Technically they would have the money to go after him. But at the price he'll demand it wouldn't be worth it. I think our corners are fine. The money would be best used elsewhere.

He was turning into a shutdown corner prior to his injuries.

He didnt' have a good year last year did he? I remember he got lit up in at least a few games.

Yeah, I don't get this Robinson > Gamble mess...

Dunta Robinson played like garbage this past season. Someone is going to overpay him, but he is basically another DeAngelo Hall...overrated #2 corner.

Given we play more of a Tampa 2 much of the time, I don't think we need to pay for shutdown corners typical of teams who play man a lot. Seems our safeties are very important. I would rather see us get another strong safety with good ball skills over another corner.

I completely agree, except I think we need a new FS. I'd like to try and snag Ryan Clark from The Steelers. He'd be an upgrade over anyone we currently have at FS. That said, it won't happen. The Panthers won't spend the money to get him.

    • I don't think working from memory is going to be very productive or useful. You would need to compare them all, which is far easier to do from the breakdowns of each game. That has tiered charts that give real data.  But, even then that wouldn't substitute for a trained eye(s) doing detailed film analysis to attempt to determine if we are modifying the offense dramatically for Bryce.
    • I think front office and general team culture under new ownership is sort of on the right track. The rookies all look incredible compared to where you'd expect each one of them to be right now. Lee's in game coaching is awful, he might be ok as a culture and developmental guy but that can't outweigh the in-game miscues and bad game plans. If LaMelo can't figure out the ankles then I think you gotta trade him for a haul, can't keep having your seasons lost every year because he can't stay on the court. And I say that as a big fan of him. Miller I think is unlucky, he looks likely to be an elite core player for us, but if he can't put together a stretch of healthy seasons he would trend towards LaMelo and need to be moved. I used to like Miles on the court a lot more but nowadays he's just an empty stat guy who needs to go. The short lived hot start to the season was fun but unless LaMelo and Miller both get and stay healthy within the next few weeks I can't even see us being a play-in team this year. And even if they do get healthy, we're probably looking at play-in at best, maybe barely compete for that fringe 6th seed.
