Death by Orca

At the end of the article.

At the Orlando SeaWorld, the body of a naked man was found scratched, bruised and draped over a 5-ton orca named Tilikum in July 1999. Daniel Dukes, 27, reportedly made his way past security at SeaWorld, remaining in the park after it had closed. Wearing only his underwear, Dukes either jumped, fell or was pulled into the frigid water of Tilikum's huge tank.

An autopsy ruled that he died of hypothermia in the 50-degree water. But they also said it appeared Tilikum bit the man and tore off his swimming trunks, likely believing he was a toy to play with.

Dukes' parents filed a lawsuit against the park later that year but ended up withdrawing it.

What a bunch of morons. I hope killer whales drown that entire dumbass family.

My email to SeaWorld:

"Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for ya,

but it ain't gonna be easy... Bad fish. It's not like going down to pond

chasin' blue gills or tommy cots. This orca - swallow ya hole. L'il shakin',

l'il tenderizin', down ya go. Now we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back

the tourists, that'll put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not

gonna be pleasant! I value my neck a lot more than 3000 bucks chief! I'll

find him for three, but I'll catch him... and kill him... for ten! Now you

gotta make up your minds. Gonna stay alive and ante up? Or ya wanna play it

cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers; I don't

want no mates. There's too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars

for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing."

Their reply:

"We'll be in touch. Thx."

They didn't even have the decency to spell out "Thanks!" Fuggers...

To all you mother fugers that just can't tell, I'm a pisces but I'd rather be a killer whale.

The lawsuit is stupid, they won't win. People have scaled barriers and gotten themselves eaten or killed at zoos or parks a bunch of times. It's the person's fault, unless they can prove negligence by the zoo.

I don't think people realize there is a reason they got their name. They are smart yes, very trainable, but these things may be THE top predator in the ocean. I even seen a video some months back of orca's smashing great whites for the fun of it. These killer whales speed swim and slide onto beaches and gobble up seals, they are awesome.

Killer whales have a bit of an unearned reputation, but they are predators and wild animals.

I remember one night I was on the sonar stack way out near the Arctic Circle in literally the middle of nowhere, no ships, no sound....then suddenly my headset was filled with the sound of a woman screaming while being murdered. It was some lonely orca looking for some friends, and soon enough others joined in. It was scary, eerie and totally cool at the same time.

It's a whale, Seaman Beaumont. An animal that knows considerably more about sonar than you. (what movie?)

    • You didn’t really address the point, just like you ignored the point about the RBs initially, and saying “they are all lotto picks” is just a really silly reduction because you could say that about literally any player rookie or vet every snap, every game, every year. It is well known that different positions have different hit rates, and I would argue different types of prospects within position groups as well, and that hit rates change the further down in the draft you go. Everybody knows QB is different and that, for example, first round OL have a really high success rate. Using your lotto ticket analogy…again…you are saying a lotto ticket with a 1 in 100 chance of hitting is the exact same thing as a lotto ticket with a 1 in 2 chance of hitting (this is an example, don’t take these odds literally). The point was he is no more of a lotto ticket than the 31yr old receiver coming off a major knee injury, and in my opinion he is better odds with a higher potential “jackpot”. Saying one player is an “lotto ticket” while another isn’t is just not sound logic. You have no idea who will break out, regress, get injured, etc. There are safer bets than others, that’s all. I don’t think Diggs is a safe bet and even if he was, weighing him over all of the Panthers WRs plus 2 1k rushers is just dumb. You can disagree if you want. The list is stupid.
    • Yeah, this is all projections of how it will turn out. Inevitability this list will look ridiculous in a full 2025 sesson hindsight, most likely. Still, I am pretty surprised that so many bristled at being thought of as having very, very lowly ranked WR and TE units. We literally have been for years. All you have to do is just have things stay the same and those are immediately bottom 5 units. It is easy to see why one would be reticent to have lofty expectations in the preseason. Gotta show it first when you are a perennial cellar dweller. That's just life at the bottom.
    • That's my biggest concern with making him the 2C.  You split up the Aho Jarvis bromance that accounted for a lot of points.  If Jarvis excels as a C, it could help the team even more though.
