DeAngleo Williams thinks Jake should remain starter

I really wish DeAngelo would have badmouthed Jake to appease posters on a message board, instead of maintaining a good relationship with one of his teammates (and perhaps, by extension, the team itself).

What the fug was the guy thinking?

trade him to oakland for jemarcus russell.

What are you talking about? Why is it so hard to fathom a teammate would speak highly of another teammate?

OP, you need to change the title of your post -- nowhere did DeAngelo advocate Jake starting.

That’s exactly what DeAngelo Insinuated... And it's the title of the blog/article/ whatever… come on dude read between the lines. I have nothing wrong with speaking highly of a teammate, but it was more than that.

Also I'm thinking what this does for Moore...

Jake is a great person, locker room presence... But the players also shouldn't praise Jake without giving Moore some type of props... unless they do not believe in him.

Whatever, it is what it is.

Jake does not deserve to be hung out to dry, I fully understand players defending Jake against the pissy fanbase. Williams is really laying it on thick though. He doesn't deserve any praise for what he's done, even in the past. The past is GONE. Jake played great from 03 to 05, he was an excellent player and a top 10-15 QB. Now he's very bad, quit giving him pity praise Williams!!!!!

DWill, some guy named Smith wants a private moment with you.

Maybe DWill is thinking, "gee if Jake starts, good chance Stew and I will rush for 1400 yards a piece next year".

I think he was way to "over the top" in praise for Jake, to the point it was a shot at Moore. Moore played very well and the team won games. Jake lost games for the team last year. Frankly if I'm Moore; I might start thinking "I hope I don't get tagged" and start planning my exit for charlotte.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
