Boo hoo they have to report to the guy who signs their checks. Here’s a quick exercise to check if someone has to report to someone: can they be fired? If so, who can fire them? Tepper owns the team, no poo people report to him. Welcome to the real world

i mean yea ultimately but Tepper has ZERO business interfering with their day to day work

How many direct reports do you manage?

just doesn't make sense because I thought that the head coach reported to the GM.

So in your dream scenario would the Head Ball Coach ever even speak with the Owner?

Or, in banking parlance, would there be a inviolable Chinese Wall between the Owner and the Head Ball Coach whereby they would never interact, at all, in the entirety of the Head Ball Coach's contract?

Who are they supposed to report to, Roger Goodell?  Jfc wait til the season starts at least before judging the new guys

No, No... don't you understand? "The world according to the Huddle". Of all the teams in the league, Carolina is the ONLY one where the GM and HC are accountable to the owner.

the GM typically has the power to hire or fire a coach , make trades , negotiate contracts , free agent acquisitions, & of course leads the scouting department.

so with that said please elaborate what the Head Ball Coach as you like to put it needs to report directly the  owner  ?

"...typically..."

"Typically" the 199th pick in the NFL draft doesn't start at QB in the Super Bowl -- screw "typically'.

The cited report is pure speculation and nothing more.

That said, the beauty of being the owner is you get to call all the shots -- Tepper is the owner, it's his call.

Which owner do you feel is behaving in a manner that you approve of and want to align yourself with?

It's 100% clear that's exactly how you feel.  In your perfect world the owner would simply turn up in the owner's suite on game-day and nothing more, right?

Gonna be a bunch of ‘we’ this and ‘we’ that until one of his spooks in the locker room tells him something then it will be all ‘you’ did this or didn’t do that.

His “spooks” wtf?

    • It's amazing how much yall can say the same things over and over and not annoy yourselves with it.
    • If you only look at measurables, Mingo and Legette might seem similar.  But when you actually look at them and watch them play, they aren't close to the same.   And this is coming from someone who is skeptical about Legette, although ultimately I believe he will work out.  I've just always disagreed with the comparisons to Mingo.   Mingo tests better than he plays/runs, whereas Legette plays/runs as well as he tests.
    • As bad as things were with the Panthers last year, we still had 4 other games outside of the 2 we won that we came very close to winning.  Could throw the Falcons game in there too, it was tied going into the 4th. I'm not really sure what to expect this year.  I don't think we'll make the playoffs.  However, we play in a very weak division where no team has a standout QB.  On paper, our OL should be good, and could be great if Ikem improves.  That alone could help mask a lot of problems on offense.  Should allow us to run the ball better.  Even if Bryce doesn't improve, the OL should at the very least give him more time to make the easy throws underneath and let a guy like Legette work his magic after the catch. And I think this defense in a 2nd year with Evero should, at the very least, be in the top 16.  I'm expecting our run defense to be as good as it has been in years. I think this team could push for 7-8 wins.  But it could also finish with 2 wins again.  That is just how the league works.  Jets offense was miserable last year, and yet they still won 7 games.   We won't really get a good feel of it until after the preseason, and even then, who knows.
