Carl Weathers 1948-2024

[Shocker]

Carl Weathers of Rocky fame has passed.  Was in many other top flight 80s films like Predator, Action Jackson and later Happy Gilmore.

As a kid I always remembered seeing this dude on my TV screen.

That sucked. He had some awesome roles during his career and did a great job making them awesome characters.

I met Carl Weathers in 1980 in Oakland, CA. It wasn't that long after Rocky 2 and he was still is major condition for that movie. I was 24 at the time, in the Navy. Dude just looked huge to me, and I'm 6'6".

Very nice guy, personable and enjoyed having a conversation with a handful of us. Of course, it was back in the day before everyone seemingly wanted a piece of fame. No paparazzi, no autographs, selfies...
