When was the last time the Panthers suddenly decided to go young?

The year is 2000. A team with veterans at key positions and an aging quarterback have a mediocre season. Seifert has an uncharacteristic "change of heart" and goes extremely young in the offseason. The team has an awful year in 2001 and seifert is fired, but the team is primed for a new coach to come in and have quick success.

All we need to do is take The Golden Calf of Bristol in the 4th like we did Weinke in 2001 and the metaphor will be complete.

I'm afraid of the draft now. Thanks for taking that away from me.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
