Who cares. I spend more time at my jobs than with the ones I love like everyone else, I also wouldn't ball my eyes out if I got fired from my job even if I really enjoyed it. Time to move on. Emotions will enhance competition but at the same time emotions can completely kill it.

It's simple...these guys spend about as much time together and go through as many challenges as a soldier does. For instance, how much time do you think Fox gets to spend with his wife and kids during the season, compared to his players and coaching staff?

A lot more than some grunt that's in the field for 3-6 months at a time or god forbid over in some other country for a year or more in a war.

If you put as much heart and soul into something as Jake put into this team and don't cry when it's over, then you are a sociopath and you should be locked up somewhere.

Fox owes his success as a HC in large part to Jake... for 7 years these guys have worked, ate and slept on how to make each other and the Carolina Panthers successful and now that's over. Any good coach is more than just a coach to his players. How can a coach inspire his team if they just think of him as "the boss"?

There are allot of 13 year-old boys on here that get uncomfortable watching a grown man cry... I feel sorry for anyone that has never experienced anything powerful enough to make them cry, some of you need to get out from behind the keyboard and get a life.

I'm not talking about war. Mostly what I'm thinking about is the speech I and every other soldier had to make when they were on their way out of a duty station. The last time I had to do that was the hardest part for me. It's one thing to say goodbye to people, it's a whole different thing to have to do it in front of everybody. I didn't cry myself, but I know a lot of guys that really struggled with it, and one of them was actually an ex gang banger from South Central LA who turned his life around in the Army. I think about half of us cried when he left, including the 1st sgt.

BTW, Jesse James went to Iraq and worked with some soldiers and airmen to build a hot rod Humvee, and he cried like a little baby when it was time for him to go and they presented him with a plaque in front of the whole unit.

if this game was at all comparable to the army, which it is not, jake would've been gunned down in battle or blown up by a road mine and this would be Fox awarding his family a purple heart.

you know what this really is? This is really a few guys that have a case of dry box and are emotionally distraught over the fact that there is zero chance of Jake leading that game winning drive to win the superbowl in a panthers uniform, even though it would've never happened if we kept him the entire five years anyway. Your fantasy will never be fulfilled, so stop trivializing the military and wipe the tears off your face with your memorable june 1997 monster truck show t-shirt.
