Source says Panthers will seek extension with DeAngelo Williams

I think Williams has a better chance of staying healthy than Stewart does. It seems like he is constantly hurt.

Seeing as I can't remember Stewart ever missing playing time because of an injury (other than the second half of the Saint's game), I'd have to disagree.

also, given how close friends DWill and Stewart are, I'd guess that they'd both be willing to take a reduced salary to stay together. for those that didn't know, they went fishing together yesterday lol (

). they seem like great friends on & off the field.

and before you say that would never happen: Fitz(and so did Warner) offered to take a pay cut to keep Boldin last off-season.

I remember Fitz saying he would be happy to rework his contract to help them open up cap space, not take a pay cut.

Anyway, I'm sure they will be willing to give somewhat of a hometown discount, it's just a matter of how much that will be and even after that they're still looking at pretty sizable contracts.

But, it is easier to manage the RB position when you are a passing team and have the BEST QB in the game.

I don't disagree, but I don't believe in keeping RB's on the roster, when you can trade them and get value....high value, if you have another talented one on the roster.

With the short lifespan of the position, and our lack of talent at some key positions, we could certainly try to get some worth while both are on rookie deals.

I don't know if this has been mentioned on this thread or not, cause there's so many people posting like crazy.... but I already see exactly what the panthers are doing, which is exactly what that guy was saying in the article. They're gonna try and sign DW to an extension this season while there's no salary cap, so Jerry Richardson can pay DW most of his contract up front, out of his own pocket. And as the years progress, the amount of money he is paid each year will digress.. while at the same time, they'll give Stewart his extension after this coming season, that way they're hoping the money doesn't crisscross itself.

I couldt very well see that happening which would not be a bad move at all!

Hopefully it's true and Double Trouble can stay together for about 4 or 5 more years. I'm just hoping that they aren't thinking about trading the best player on our offense and when I say best player I'm talking about DWill.

yeah they have short lifespans, but not all of them. The LT's, the Westbrooks, the AP's, they have shorter careers because they take all the carries. Williams and stewart split carries so they are more likely to have longer careers. It's kind of an awesome thing.
