Williams, Stewart running on supreme fuel

Good Read.Makes you think that both are willing to share but are the panthers willing to pay both top 10 RB money.

We’re each about 220 or 230 carries a year,’’ Williams said. “I’d rather have that than 300-plus carries a year. That wears on your legs and you’re not going to last long doing that. With me and Jonathan back there and sharing it the way we do, that’s a real treat and neither one of us is going to get worn out.’’

With the Panthers not holding a first-round pick this year, a lot of Carolina fans started throwing out rumors or theories that the Panthers should let Williams go and pick up some more draft picks. Even if an offer sheet comes from another team, that’s not going to happen. The Panthers can match any offer and they’re not letting Williams go anywhere.

Hmmmm... where'd he get that from I wonder.

funny that williams realizes that when some running backs with more ego and some carolina fans can’t quite grasp the fact that less is more in this situation. williams is a restricted free agent this year. He’s carrying the highest tender and that means the panthers would receive a first- and a third-round pick as compensation if another team were to sign williams away.
wtf?

Carolina running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart split carries last season and both eclipsed 1,100 yards rushing.

This really happened and I’ve still got the tape to prove it.

Yet if it had been the Steelers or Patriots, ESPN would have done a special.

I think both will be here for the majority of their careers. I actually feel that Stewart will be the first to leave.

i like his thoughts on this but he is showing his lack of knowledge. williams isn't an RFA this year.

Yea I agree with you I was like when did D-Will contract run out lol. But other then that it was a good article. I really believe both D-will and Stewart want to be the best RB duo to ever be in the NFL. And if that is the case fine by me:cheers2:!!

From everything I've seen and heard out of these guys, it seems like they truly enjoy sharing the limelight. I think that is probably the greatest weapon this team possesses.

Yea so I don't see why a lot of people want to break them up, I mean I see there logic but if both RBs are happy don't mess up a good thing.

someone wrote a column or posted in here that if they front-load Williams contract and back-load Stewarts, it's is more than feasible to keep both RB's... that's if they are really asking for a poo-ton of money.

I don't think too many people need to freak out as if it's not possible at all... sounds very possible to me.

Just like every sports writer in the world, the idea of having a running back "tandem" is still a pretty fresh one that everyone is still getting used to. The idea of the "workhorse" back is hard to kill, apparently.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
