Norwell and Turner couldve started on other teams when they were in their prime. But yeah, almost every time I saw Bozeman, he was getting man handled. Maybe he is better when his guards can block better and he can chip in and help double team, but he isnt very good at 1 v 1.

A center is always at a disadvantage in 1 v. 1, it comes with the duties of the job. Good ones learn to compensate and the great ones learn how to do that and then leverage their guy into someone else.

Again a valid argument could be made that outside of Moton, Thielen and Chuba the entire rest of the starting lineup on offense would be on the bench of almost every other NFL team. Thielen and Chuba likely wouldn't start for half of the teams in the league either

No one should be safe on offense (besides Bryce because we have to see what we have in him next year)

In fact, I used to coach HS football and we once stayed at Va Tech for a week and observed coaches there--Beamer might have been the first person I heard say it.  That was back in  1995

Frank Beamer definitely preached that bigtime in the 90’s so your timeline lines up.

The game has changed a lot since then and WR and EDGE are much more premium (and expensive) positions now…. but a SMART/PHYSICAL/VOCAL Center is still hugely important.  You’re legitimately drafting a Center in rounds 2-3 to be a 10 year starter and foundational piece.

We were there the week after Spring ball ended, and the coaches were tired, relaxed, and tying up recruiting.  We spent most of our time watching film with the position coaches, listening to them break down a player's technique or so.  Beamer was about special teams, as you know, and said that is a factor when he recruits.

Ravens love Flowers. Egbuka was a strong OROY pick   Seems like a great spot with these recent picks.......Best value has been WR....
    • false rumor, he's a team leader.  No clue what he is worth.....Rico came off the streets for 2.5million and put him to #2 for weeks. I doubt a team would give much more than a late rounder. Like Frank said above, 5th would be tops and very lucky.  He's got a fair contract and is well liked by players, coaches, and FO. No reason to trade.
    • Set us back a few years but..a decade? lol what are you smoking man.   only 2000s move that’s come close to actually setting a team that far back wash owns trading for Deshaun, thankful we didn’t win that “sweepstakes” at least    I know hyperbolic commiseration is all the rage here but no team in the NFL is more than a few years away from competing if they go about things right (“right” being the key word here) just in the last few years see: Lions, Patriots, Broncos, Colts (pre DJ injury)
