Well, one bad contract of another. Johnson has potential to be top 10 WR. but man he already started the on the field post Pittsburgh AB antics in Pittsburgh with a questionable QB. Idk this could get really spicy. Let's hope we can feed him and keep him happy, cause of so we likely are doing worlds better than last year in the passing game.

It will not matter that much. He's basically on a 1 year prove it deal here. That will decide his fate here. If he wants it he will have to earn it. I seriously doubt they plan on him being anything other than that until his replacement is drafted.

Late to the party but I had him in Fantasy last season. Massive let down. But to be fair, he was hurt AND not their #1. Hopefully he can be happy being the #1 here ... even with you know who throwing him the ball.

Ummm he was our #1, who told you he wasn't? Pickens was practically benched a couple games, as well so many below 50 yards.  By Chance have you bothered to look at his 2022 year of a whopping zero touchdowns.

If I could start a thread, I would.

I'm a Steeler fan and was looking to see what there is about Donte. And seen yinz say he was good but was over priced.

But then I saw y'all thinking Johnson is good and thinking you would the trade...... I'm sorry to disappoint you, but Johnson is meh. Be prepared for him to catch and go backwards 5 years and then start moving up the field.

Yeah, I don't want to hear memes about negative YAC. He's far better than anyone on this roster and better than probably all the receivers we've had since Steve Smith & D.J. Moore. I know you guys have been spoiled with receivers this past decade but let me be the first to inform you that it can be a difficult position to draft and develop.

Having said that, Donte Jackson is a starting caliber corner, that I expect will play well at the CB2 position barring injury.

Wait what? Johnson is a potential top 10? I'm dying. Dude had zero touchdowns 2 years ago. He was forced in the #1 slot and he is just meh. There's a reason why he's only getting paid 10 million.

Oh and be prepared for him to drop 5 yards back after his catch, and then he makes a move.

I'm not exactly thrilled but as a wild card on offense where we sucked. Wide range of outcomes for him. Cause this is a swap it's the one move that likely cost nothing in cap or personnel with the highest chance to move the needle. I'm not convinced it does though.

Thanks, I appreciate that. Because we have been burned last year. P² was a joke. And the boy we drafted was a #2. Which was hard on him because of no one to help him.

I hope the best for Johnson. Some times that move off dropping back 5 and then making a move worked. But it scares the heck out of you.

Also our QB suck. Last couple of years with Ben we thought was bad, but it went to being a nightmare. So maybe Johnson can be better.

Also our OC was an idiot. (I would curse and say worse, but I'm not sure what is allowed here).... so maybe Johnson can be better.

George Pickens seems to be good for us. But there's an attitude. I like it, but most fans hate it.

Given what we gave up i think we have nothing to lose by taking a chance on him. I know nothing about him but I do know Donte. Getting something for Donte no matter the outcome is a win.

Are you a troll? Pickens was your number 1. 1,141 yds and 5 TDs. And had 800 yds and 4 TDs in 2022 as a rookie. What are you trying to even argue here?

I'm higher on Jackson than most, but here's a little more.

In my opinion he's a very decent corner. He can tackle well for a corner and more importantly wants to make the tackle, which at times has gotten him hurt. He has decent hands for a corner and tracks balls well. He's on the smaller side, but gives 100% effort, and plays with fire — is a talker. He can get burned, but so can anyone really, so I never faulted him, especially in last year's disaster of a team.

His health is the biggest concern. If he stays healthy I think he will play well.

Look at receptions. Two years ago Johnson was #1. Last year Pickens didn't start getting the ball until the end for receptions.

Just because Pickens put up great numbers, doesn't make him a #1.

Thanks. We coach up tackling, so that will be nice to see he didn't need that training.

Health we are meh on.

    • Same, bro.  Yeah, it just feels it has run its course and I don’t know that we’ll ever get more value.  Plus, with the new ownership, this draft has been super encouraging, so dare I believe maybe this FO can get something to really put us over the top in return for Melo.  I’ll still be a fan of his game and try to keep up with him if we move on, but yeah, I feel it’s time to turn the page. (and side note: I felt so happy after their rookie years because I told everybody I wanted Melo and didn’t trust Ant.  And Melo clearly looked like the better player early…  I thought Ant would bust because all that stuff he said about not loving the game and just his resume to that point…  but damn, if we could go back in time.🤣🤣🤣. I love Ant’s game and at times, when he gets in the zone, he is THE BEST player in the league in my opinion.)
    • Appreciate that, bro!  And I could definitely see that with Cam.  Even though he’s a little younger than me, he is also someone I admire and feel a kinship with for a lot of various reasons. Funny enough, a few years after that encounter with Steve, I went to Charlotte with one of my friends whose brothers owned a moving company at the time.  He dropped me off uptown and went to work the day with them where I would wait until he got done and then we were gonna go to the Bobcats game that night.  So I walk all through that area for hours.  After awhile, I walk back towards the arena and sit in a bench on the backside of the arena, where the practice court and player’s entrance was.  As I’m sitting there, I look up and almost think I’m seeing things - I squint and blink my eyes a couple times just to be sure, and yes…  it’s one of my childhood heroes, Muggsy Bogues walking across the crosswalk and into the arena.  I think he was coaching the Sting then, iirc.  Part of me wanted to just say, “Hey!  Muggsy!  Thank you for the inspiration and memories!  You were one of my favorite players as a kid!”  But, I just watched him walk by and into the arena and thought, “that was cool!”  I also so Miguel Cotto a couple years back while in Orlando and told my kids who it was but didn’t say anything to him.  I think somewhere in my subconscious, that encounter with Steve really made me feel like the gamble on finding out if they’re receptive to interaction just isn’t worth finding out.  At the end of the day, no matter if they’re receptive inspired us or were a hero, unless they initiate it, I likely never will…  because again, they’re humans just like us.  Not anymore unique or special, they just have a highly visible and very public job that we get to watch and in some ways participate.  So, I just appreciate it for what it is.
    • I'm pleasantly surprised they gave it to Bryce Young over Josh Allen. Finally we're getting some respect. Now I'm just hoping the team follows this up accordingly and doesn't lay another egg.
