Hurney on WFNZ @ 4:00 today

If Hurney expected a live show on WFNZ to be a remotely positive thing, I'd say he's totally clueless.

Every year the Panther's have had a losing season (every other year that is), there has been an excuse. Smitty got hurt, Jake had surgery, RBs got hurt....

Last year we ended up at .500 (would have been 7-9 had the Saints not rested their starters on week 17). What was the excuse? There was none.

And when you don't have an excuse, people will find reasons for behavior they don't like on their own.

Arguably it all started in the off-season. Ridiculous contract to Jake and Peppers. ZERO free agency moves worthy of note. Stupid draft day decisions (trading 1st rounds for 2nds).

The when the season got going, we had Lackluster D play, and the softness on Delhomme's breakdown... these are all coaching/front office decisions.... and we can squarely put the outcome of 2009 at Hurney and Fox's feet.

All the while they gave us lip service that "it is what it is".

So if he's getting beat up... good. He needs to hear what people are thinking. Because his and Fox's PR programming isn't working. He needs to learn to be straight up with us.

QFT

Wish he did this last year. He didn't have the answers to the stupid moves they made. Now that JR has set things straight, Hurney is kind of like the puppet and knows all the answers that have been feed to him by JR when he couldn't find them himself.

hurney ur a freakin idiot you should have gotten Larry Fitzgerald and all our problems would be solved

YOURE SUCH AN IDIOT HURNEY OMGGGGGGGGgggggggggg

I love how people criticize him when he's arguably one of the best drafters in the league.

The Delhomme deal was dumb, but it was done because Peppers deal tied up the cap space, and we would have been screwed cap-wise had we needed to sign new players(which we definitely ended up doing)

I understand Hurney does not control ticket prices but if you are pissed of about something would you rather call up some random person on Mint St. who has never said a word to JR or talk to Hurney?

No, you're right - better to call up a radio show and rant like an idiot to a guy that has nothing to do with ticket pricing.

Agree. If we let Pep go last year or he didn't made us force to tender him, maybe Jake might not got the extension to help with the salary cap.

But anyway, I got to give Hurney a lot of respect for being on the show & taking lot of crap from fans. Even from some who are idiots too. Hearing about the "Rivers" comment is why some GM, coaches, etc. shouldn't listen to all fans & the "Rivers" comment from an idiot is proof.

    • I don't think working from memory is going to be very productive or useful. You would need to compare them all, which is far easier to do from the breakdowns of each game. That has tiered charts that give real data.  But, even then that wouldn't substitute for a trained eye(s) doing detailed film analysis to attempt to determine if we are modifying the offense dramatically for Bryce.
    • I think front office and general team culture under new ownership is sort of on the right track. The rookies all look incredible compared to where you'd expect each one of them to be right now. Lee's in game coaching is awful, he might be ok as a culture and developmental guy but that can't outweigh the in-game miscues and bad game plans. If LaMelo can't figure out the ankles then I think you gotta trade him for a haul, can't keep having your seasons lost every year because he can't stay on the court. And I say that as a big fan of him. Miller I think is unlucky, he looks likely to be an elite core player for us, but if he can't put together a stretch of healthy seasons he would trend towards LaMelo and need to be moved. I used to like Miles on the court a lot more but nowadays he's just an empty stat guy who needs to go. The short lived hot start to the season was fun but unless LaMelo and Miller both get and stay healthy within the next few weeks I can't even see us being a play-in team this year. And even if they do get healthy, we're probably looking at play-in at best, maybe barely compete for that fringe 6th seed.
