You don’t pull Freddie…. The guy has been the best goalie in the league lately.

He’s also been on a strict schedule and workload target since he returned. I agree with starting him tonight but I’d give Pyotr both NY games if that’s the case. If we want the cup it’s a long road ahead, no need to overwork Freddie.

Caveat: unless Pyotr has a stinker.

Pretty sure his work load was because Rod wanted to ride him in the playoffs his post-game Saturday said as much

Canes got caught below the goal line too many times last game. Too many opportunities for the Isles having a guy on the doorstep and Freddie having to make a huge save. NY wants to muck it up below the goal line and try to draw a d-man too deep or get just one more guy to bite down low and open up the crease.

Canes try to play more offense down low and net front, it'll pull the Isles closer to the net and Carolina can get some easy entries. Otherwise, the Isles just clog up the middle like the Rags do and it works against the Canes.

Ya we gotta clean up our puck control behind our own net. It was bad last game. Isles are selling out to beat us at it.

I agreed don't chase below the goal line as much, being 2 feet from the ice behind the Freddie for two periods made this pretty clear, we also have a MASSIVE SPEED advantage

    • While I'd love to add him, it just doesn't make sense for where we are at in our re-build right now. The only teams who should be interested are those who have a very legitimate shot at winning the SB this season, as any team who makes the trade is going to be mortgaging their future to make the move. Teams who make these kinds of trades and then give them the massive contract, in the hopes that it will expedite their path to contention, ALWAYS ends up backfiring because they have to give up the 1st round picks that are then needed to help build out the rest of the roster after eating up such a significant chunk of the cap on the new contract. There is no way the Cowboys trade him for anything less than 2 future 1st rounders (and probably more), plus we'll have to make him the highest paid non QB in league history.  Not to mention that it would then have made the Scourton and/or Princely picks a bit of a waste, as those 2nd and 3rd round picks would have been better off used on a ILB or DB
    • Like his approach to pre season that's ro get them out there and play together for a few plays and right about the night before and morning before.  Maybe we can come out the gate on fire I can smell the smoke from here!!   Go Panthers
    • Only 26 years old, fills the biggest hole on our roster. Top 3 at his respective position, yeah fug it how often does a future HOF player become available in their prime?
