It’s like a traffic accident, but I can’t not look. I have taken to watching replays and and not live games, and just enjoying my Sunday afternoons rather than donating every Sunday to the NFL. Who I have grown to despise as an entity. But football is a lifelong interest and difficult to move on from, entirely.

Tepper has pushed me to the fringes of fanhood.

On the whole, I share the exact same sentiments. Tepper has pushed me to 'academic interest' status but it's hard to turn off 30 years of overall interest. Have to say though that the continued fractionation of the product and the ubiquity of gambling around the NFL in general is sure a growing turn-off.

If I said more about why I see the league being part of the problem I couldn’t post.

Still love football, my dad was an example of the difference between college and pro. He ended up coaching for several years. I went on a couple of visits for college ball but knew I wasn’t NFL caliber and had some pretty compelling interests outside of athletics and here we are. I went another way. Still love football but seriously falling out of love with the NFL. Have zero love for Tepper.

edit: to stay OnTopic the wins come from facing teams that are down for whatever reason, that week. I don’t know how to know more specifics ahead of their random demises.

I sit here and think, Y'all call me a Homer?

This thread is filled with mostly people on the Extremes.

Ones whom are incapable of believing a group of talented athletes can play well enough together to win.

And ones that fit this description.

In may.

Believe that our offense is going to magically start carrying this team. Which has never happened in the history of this franchise.

You guys have no business calling me a Homer. Seriously.

Now that I have expressed this... let me open up more on This current team than I have to this point

In THEORY, our run defense should be much improved.  Which would in turn, give the defense more opportunities to actually rush the passer.  More than last year anyways.

Once again, in THEORY, our running game should be much improved.   That in itself should benefit out defense, by allowing the offense the opportunity to actually sustain drives.

There isn't a single pass rusher on this team that scares me. Clowney is a pretty good complete defensive end/edge guy.  At no point in his career was he ever considered an elite pass rusher.  Now he's our best pass rusher. After that we have a wanna be journeyman pass rusher, and a lot of unknowns.

Even with more pass rush opportunities on the horizon, how ANYONE can be confident about our pass rush at this moment, just blows my mind.

Going back to offense.

IF our oline can come together, and ve somewhat healthy this year, that will be a miracle in of itself. Thus is coming from a fan whom always says the okine takes time to come together.  He'll, last year they never had the opportunity to come together.   The line was being shuffled from the beginning.  How anyone expected our young left tackle to be even competent when musical chairs was played all season long at the guard positions , blows my mind. Is anyone capable of understanding the impact that has on an oline?  Which in turn impacts the entire offense?  Seriously.   The fact people still want to say they know Young sucks/is a bust after the 1 rookie season behind that miserable attempt of even fielding an offense??? Seriously, what the fug are you smoking? That ain't good poo. You need a better source for your drugs man.  You guys have brain damage.

IF our oline can come together, IF our oline can remain decently healthy, then yes, our offense should, for the first time since Tepper has owned the team, be offensive to other teams!!

Our running game should flourish.  Nothing in any generation of NFL is more effective andndangerous than a balanced offense.

While I am somewhat optimistic about what this team as attempting to field this season... I do have my doubts.  I can see how it can come together.  I can also see how it can fail to get traction at all.

Our team should at least be more entertaining to watch for the first time in I don't know how many years.  Maybe I'll actually attend some games this year.  I won't hold my breath.

If our team findsa way to improve to average, that means will win 6 to 9 games.

That's a pretty good improvement for a first year head coach.  Notnsurw how many of our fans would be alright with that. Seems our fans fall into 2 categories.   Superbowl, or tank, I mean don't you dare win 1 damn game, and fug up a high draft pick so we can continue to suck forever!!!!

Hmmmm

Seems this post has been all over the place.

And you have the audacity to call me a Homer. 🙄

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
