You made the first statement claiming he could be 5-1, not me. Could easily be 1-5 as well. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts and all that.

And I was responding to the op who said he can't win close ones.  And he can't control fumbles and dropped passes.

Canales talked about how we were going to be a dominant running team yet he constantly abandons the run all the time… it’s confusing

That is today's NFL though.  A "running team" is a team that runs the ball about 50% of the time.  Even Baltimore which leads the NFL in rushing, has only 3 more rushing attempts per game than passing attempts.  And probably some of those are Lamar dropping to pass then taking off.

Today, if my math is correct, we had 31 runs, and 31 passes.  Five of the passes turned into runs when Bryce was pressured, but I think that is the balance Canales wants in a close game.

In the end, the only thing that matters is how many points we score, and do we score more than the other team.

    • Yeah this kind of discussion really seems to be from people that dont understand the business of football.    There is never a negotiation that is "well you're the 3rd best LT / DE / QB in football so we will only pay you the 3rd most"   Remember JC Horn, he was the highest paid CB in football for like 5 minutes, now he's is like #5. This offseason he will be #15. No point stressing about this.
    • It’s really not an overpay, if he hits the FA market he will get more and as always, it will look like a deal in 2 seasons. Look at Brian Burns, his contract looks fine now and he’s top 3 in the league in sacks. Some people acted like our team would never financially recover if we gave him that contract and now it looks like a bargain. Meanwhile we used that money on free agents on the line who really haven’t paid off for us and wish we had someone with 13 sacks. You never let home Horne proven talent walk unless it’s absolutely necessary and LT is never a position that you play around with.
    • The difference between a turnover and not a turnover actually does matter.
