Hot Take: This team will never get over the hump, until we move on from Bryce.

do you honesty believe in your heart of hearts he is currently a top 10 qb?  Forget the ratings do you actually believe that?

Not in the least. I’m just saying the timing is weird. He’s playing like a top-20 QB right now.

Really, he’s been playing like he’s not one of the three biggest problems on this roster. So the focus shouldn’t be on him so much as any defensive position, WR, OL and competitive backup QB.

Our best WR is a bit older. Got lucky with Coker but Leggette needs to step up. Need a legitimate pass rush threat and replacement for Shaq.  Need a corner to pair with Horn. Need a lot.  Young may not be the answer but half the roster can be upgraded too.

Hot Take.... Bryce is going to bring so much attention and money into the team that it's going to help land great players because they are going to want to join him.

Oh... wait... this is a thread about Bryce Young for the Panthers... my bad ya'll, I'm still riding high on Bryce James committing to my Wildcats today.

Guess @CamWhoaaCam is about to become a huge Arizona Basketball fan now too, we all know how much he loves son's of HOFers on Big 12 teams, LOL

LeBron is great I respect him, but I'm far from a fan.

He is a 3* and from what I've seen it's only because of his dad, he's a long way from contributing anything meaningful.

Pretty much my thoughts.

It’s kind of weird timing you’ve been obsessed with Young getting cut over the last two weeks when his QB rating is top-10 in the NFL.

What cherry picked window make him top 10?

I know he get the 33rd best on the season

I literally said his QB rating over the last two weeks was top-10.

Ok gotcha.  But that’s much of a brag given what he is on the season….and the last 2 weeks he has averaged 170 yards.  It basically says when Bryce doesn’t do much he isn’t as bad

I mean he accounted for 3 TDs and was generally excellent throwing and running against Arizona. I pin the lack of yards on a lot of factors: Him, WRs, pressure, good running game.

Yeah, but when Hubbard has more rushing yards than the team has passing yards….claiming Bryce had a good QB rating is misleading.   Take any NFL fan and the noteworthy play in that Card game was Hubbard and Connor.  If it comes down to cherry picking that for Bryce….I think that actually a bad thing.  It means there is barely anything to make an argument with

I disagree, because when any other QB puts up that many touchdowns, clutch throws and rushing yards the slant wouldn't be negative at all. It's OK to give someone you can't stand credit for a great game played. It's not like it's common, so you don't have to do it often.

I’m not saying it should be negative.  I’m saying it’s not brag worthy.   If Hubbard rushes for 160 and you pass for 150….that’s not a toot the horn of the QB type day.  And if you are using that day, it’d because there isn’t much to brag about.

It's equal parts about Bryce as well as about Lebron, no Arizona fan is expecting him to be playing meaningful minutes anytime soon, he doesn't even start for his HS, he needs time to develop and the family knows that too.

But Bryce is good friends with a few other Top 10 recruits in this class that we're in the running for, one of whom is also signing with Lebron's agency too.  So this one is less about getting the Lebron connection as much as taking Bryce as a developmental project will likely help us land 2 or 3 other 5 star recruits (Koa Peat, Brayden Burries, Alijah Arenas).

But yea, getting Lebron in the fold of supporting the program isn't going to hurt either, especially as it's likely to lead to an increase of NIL funds, possibly directly from Lebron if he wants to help his son be on a winning team.  And with scholarships increasing next year to 15 per team, there is no downside in taking someone like Bryce, even if "overrated" because it's going to benefit the program in a number of other ways.

    • I think he did a solid job.  Honestly I liked his post game interview the best.  He gave himself a C and said he left a lot out on the field.  That kind of attitude can carry him far.
    • This is lacking a fairly considerable amount of context. For one, Adams(age 22) started 12 of 16 games, had 38 rec, 446 yds and 3 TD's on 66 targets(18 less, with 2 less games started). The main thing missing here is that the top two WR's for Green Bay that year combined for about 2800 yds and 25 TD's. Now if you want to throw a more accurate dart at Adams, take a look at year two. This year the production was spread around considerably and Adams didn't stand out from that pack(pun not intended).  So, if XL struggles mightily this season, I would probably keep that comparison in your quiver to counter argue. I would suggest that I don't think that scenario is probably very accurate for most HOF caliber WR's taken in the first round over the past 15 or so years. Adams was the 89th pick overall, as well. A little different hill to climb than XL, although not massively.
    • to clarify I am not referring to Will Levis.  Not knowingly.   I just made that up and tried to use a reasonable guesstimate of what else was done.  That sounded in the ballpark.  At one time I did look it all up and there were several teams that had much more successful days downfield.   If that happened to be Levis' actual numbers than it's more of a lucky coincidence.  If memory serves, it wasn't just Will Levis that brought the claim into question, it was SEVERAL teams had better days.  and you are missing my entire point of the subjective nature of it all.  If PFF employee Doug watched Bryce's film and then used his same unique subjective vantage point to grade all 31 other starting QBs.  Then dumped into into a spread sheet, it would a subjective Doug take but at least it would be a level uniform subjectivity.   The grades are done by various people.  All watching and applying their own subjective view to a play.  Everyone isn't going to grade incompletions out the same.  Or completions.   So when you dump it all into a spread sheet and hit sort.....it's not actually a statement of fact as portrayed.  Which is why you sometimes get some head scratching stuff.  I'm not reframing anything.   I don't think.  I just wasn't going to look it all back up so I was talking vaguely off the general issue I have with PFF and treating any random claim they make as the truth.
