Denver....

....just wasted their first round draft pick I think. I do not think The Golden Calf of Bristol's college skills as a QB will translate to the NFL. I would have put him as 3-4 round value at best....playing something other than QB.

Could be wrong. Time will tell.

The pick was definitely a big gamble, but here's how I see it: Josh McDaniels now has himself a supremely talented and athletic player who is extremely coachable that he can now totally strip down and rebuild as he sees fit, and he has a stop gap in Orton & Quinn to hold court until The Golden Calf of Bristol is ready, which will not be this year. I bet he doesn't see the field this season unless it's the final couple/few games of the season and Denver is far out of the playoff hunt.

But, yes, big gamble and time will tell whether it pays off or if it was a total waste.

so its worth giving up ure 2nd 3rd and 4th for a guy that will be a backup for 3 years? Ya sorry..no link.

Guess it will depend on what he does after those three years.....I just agree with Dimbee that it was a big gamble that could pay off or be a total waste. In the day and age of so many high profile players having no work ethic and getting suspended for sucking at life, at least you know neither one of those things will be an issue.

I just wonder what will happen when The Golden Calf of Bristol has a press conference to inform everyone that God told him to be a missionary in Africa instead.

What do you think will happen? Or was that an attempt at a funny?

If the biggest "knock" on the guy is that he's religious, then I'll take him any day over your DUI/Rapist/Gun-toting everyday NFLer every single time.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
